Rewrite suggestion

[edit]

Checking in on this article, and it definitely needs work. I agree with the rewrite template.

  1. The career section is just lists disguised as prose. There's no big picture here, just this game then that game then this soundtrack, etc. It's tedious to read.
  2. Video game soundtrack albums are odd, because it's assumed every major game release also gets a soundtrack. Listing them in a separate section makes them hard to connect with the game releases.
  3. The awards list is overly pedantic to where it loses meaning. Best use of licensed music? Honorable mentions? Nominations for website-specific awards? Someone with solid, meaningful wins (like Ms. Phillips) doesn't need this kind of resume padding.
  4. The short story writing is tangential and doesn't fit here.

The first 3 of these could be solved with a table of games worked on, with columns for soundtrack albums and awards. That's a common format for creative works. Dgpop (talk) 17:14, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

This is what's easy to determine:

  1. The majority of edits to the Winifred Phillips page are from user Soundout, who also created the page.
  2. Almost all of Soundout's contributions are to this page and to pages about Phillip's collaborators and projects.

Further:

  1. Soundout has removed clean-up templates without directly addressing the issues, most notably Template:Like resume.
  2. The quality of this article is suffering because it's so blatantly self-promotional and resume-like.

I apologize if Soundout is a dedicated fan who closely follows Ms. Phillips's output, but this reads like either self-editing or editing from an associate. In either case, this is the wrong person to be making the decision to remove clean-up templates. Please see WP:DISCLOSE.

Hello Dgpop! Thanks for your comments. I apologize if I removed a clean-up template improperly. I thought I had addressed the issue, but I appreciate that you had further concerns. As you guessed, I'm a dedicated fan, and I follow Ms. Phillips's output. While not all of my contributions relate to Ms. Phillips, many do. I will attempt to address your concerns with the article. Proposed merger with article about Winifred Phillips

[edit]

It has been proposed that the article about game music producer Winnie Waldron be merged with this article. Music producer Winnie Waldron is a notable individual in her own right, having many high-profile credits in successful video games and internationally-recognized awards for her work. As such, she should have her own article on Wikipedia. Soundout (talk) 21:02, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled

[edit]

Why has the list of Prominent Works been deleted from this page? The list of works helped define the subject's creative contributions in an objective, documented manner. Many similar biography articles include lists of prominent works such as the one which was deleted from this article (see the Discography list in the Michael Jackson article, the Works list in the Steve Reich article, the Bibliography list in the Anne Rice article, the Prominent Works list in the Jeremy Soule article). There is a precedent for this sort of list on Wikipedia. Why was the Prominent Works list deleted from this particular article? Soundout (talk) 02:59, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability guideline for biographies flag

[edit]

Why has this article been flagged for notability requirements? The subject of this biography is a multiple award-winning composer of music for AAA video games, a composer and producer of award-winning radio programs for National Public Radio and XM Satellite Radio, an actress who has received the "Outstanding Achievement by an Actress in a National Network Drama" Gracie Award from the Foundation of American Women in Radio and Television, and a published fantasy author. All of these accomplishments are thoroughly referenced in the article with published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent and independent of the subject. How is this individual not notable? Soundout (talk) 14:58, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
