Accuracy

[edit]

I dispute the factual accuracy of the present version of the article. In many cases women's wings of political parties are supposedly independent organisations, whose function to serve as a recruitment platforms for the party is secondary. --Soman (talk) 01:40, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to state as such, provided that you do so with a reference that says that. As it is, the statement to that effect is supported by a reference ('The advantage of working in such bodies is that women can be encouraged into a formal political party, but within a comfortable atmosphere where men are absent'). My concern with your definition is that, semantically at least, a "wing" of a party cannot be independent of that party. Groups of women that informally vote or campaign one way or another, but are not affiliated to a party, are not a women's wing in my understanding. But I stand to be proven wrong by reliable sources.
