zombie squad

[edit]

do we really need this line on the description? "the organization is often mistaken for a semi-militant or satirical paramilitary organization." we arent ever remotely mistaken for a "semi-militant" "paramilitary orgnization", well, unless the boy scouts are too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.97.228.190 (talk) 23:42, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

removed aforementioned line since there was no objection. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.97.228.190 (talk) 04:36, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familiar with this organization, but should not some mention be made of the film "The Dead Next Door" (1989) as the source for the name itself? Highly unlikely they would have been unaware of the fictional "Zombie Squad" when they took the name. - Jason. 72.177.195.195 (talk) 06:32, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Due to the obscurity of this article and the (I assume) infrequency of visits to the talk page I went ahead and added a sentence to the end of the first paragraph of the History section that mentions the film but does not state that the Zombie Squad of this article used the Zombie Squad of that film as inspiration or source for the name. I did take a quick look at the ZS website but did not see any reference to the film -- Jason 72.177.195.195 (talk) 07:22, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would not agree with that line being in the article about another group from a movie with a similar name. The NPO Zombie Squad does not referrence it in anyway in organizing the movie. I would argue that it is obscure to referrence this. 14:31, 11 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ldstryfe (talkcontribs)

I would find it very odd that an article about a group inspired by a genre of films, that then goes on to mention several other films in this genre (as accounting for the rise of) should not take note of the fact that the name Zombie Squad appears in another well known (among zombie fans) genre movie. The dead next door film has a wiki page of its own. I would argue that due to the film based nature of the organization reference to an organization of the same name (and similar function) that appears in a genre film is highly appropriate. If you would like to suggest a different place in this article to put this information feel free. I do agree that on their website the ZS does not reference this movie. That does not make it obscure or irrelevant, just interesting and honest. I would like to hear from others on this - preferably from those who are not directly involved in the organization that is the subject of this article OR if they are, can be fully unbiased (this is in no way a slight of the person who changed my edit, I have no knowledge of their interest, involvement or POV - looking at their contrib page suggests it is not). If I am out to lunch, and everyone tells me that, I will move on. Otherwise I think that this "fact" adds to the overall quality and integrity of the article and deserves a place in it --Jason. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.195.195 (talk) 23:49, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

references

[edit]

I don't know what Utcursch is looking for as far as references go. I added several more and took off the request. There needs to be more clarification about what is needed.

Different or more pictures?

[edit]

Do you guys think that there should be more pictures, or perhaps a different picture? I think that one of a charity function would be excellent for the article. --Thingsbreak 12:55, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ZS fleet

[edit]

Due to feedback I have received about wanting to move/remove zs fleet, I thought we could move it to where it talks about Archon or other Community Activity. Though I am not exactly certain why it needs to be moved. Why doesn't it belong in the trivia section? SkinnyZan 03:30, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, no, no. It can stay, I think it just needs to be "pepped up", IMO. Trivia usually involves something clever, humorous, or unusual. If there was a particularly noteworthy mod done to one of the vehicles, for example, that would be trivia. I won't touch it, but I'd like to see something that jumps out go into it. AfD

[edit]

When do you think this will be cleared for non-deletion?

Well, Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion discussions last for five days. So, we would know on or by October 31 (Halloween). The timing of it would be interesting, since an article about an organization known as Zombie Squad would be allowed to stay on a holiday known as Halloween. Zombies beware on Halloween, Zombie Squad has an accepted article on the wiki! --SkinnyZan 05:35, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Organization Status...

[edit]

I just edited the entry to reflect the organization's disaster preparedness and community service aspects rather than opening with a statement about a satirical paramilitary organization. Given that the paramilitary metaphor is mentioned several other times in the entry, and the fact that the organization does appear to be more oriented towards the community service aspect and just talking about zombies in jest (Full Disclosure: I'm a contributing member of Zombie Squad) this seems a reasonable and neutral change. Subtle vandalism

[edit]

I've noticed that while certain pieces of major vandalism (e.g., the wholesale rewrite of the article involving changing the organization's name from "Zombie Squad" to "Clown Squad") have been noted and reverted, certain other elements have gone unaddressed - most notably the claim that the Zombie Squad organizers were watching 28 Days Later "in their parents' basement", and that the activities at Zombie Con involve "being annoyed by a fat girl named Beth".

As such, I've taken the liberty of removing these statements, as they seem to have no purpose other than to detract from an otherwise well-written article.

  • A brief addendum: it seems that the editor who has been perpetuating the aforementioned subtle vandalism is an unregistered user at the IP address 75.134.2.101, and a WHOIS lookup on the IP address places it in St. Louis, Missouri, under the control of Charter Communications. I've placed a warning on the IP's talk page (the second one, I might add), as well as used the {{SharedIP}} template to make a note of the information I've discovered about the origins of the editor. --Special Operative MACAVITYDebrief me 22:08, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

End of Zombie Squad forum

[edit]

As of July 1st the forum has been deactivated. I added this at the end of the forum section. if anyone thinks there is a better spot for it please move it.

Could a comment be added explaining why the form was deactivated? If not, could it be mentioned here? I went to look at the forum today after being away for about a year and a half and discovered it was gone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:A601:AFEA:4001:2EF0:5DFF:FED3:B81A (talk) 05:20, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
