Uniform infobox field

[edit]

Currently the Uniform field expects an image, apparently a well-executed illustration of the band uniform. This is great in theory, but it seems few bands actually have this. By comparison, the infobox for "Drum Corps" also has a "Uniform" field, but that is a text field, which allows for a text description of the uniform -- something any band could include.

I propose we have two fields, one for "Uniform image" and one for "Uniform description" or similar. -Kzirkel (talk) 19:42, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I attempted an {{#ifexists | | }} statement to switch between image or text, but unfortunately many B1G uniform images are hosted on Commons and ifexist does not work with interwiki links. But do we really need a uniform description field? MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE: "The less information it contains, the more effectively it serves that purpose, allowing readers to identify key facts at a glance." Uniform descriptions can be messy, overly-detailed, and inconsistent between different bands. I say either the infobox should have a uniform image, or nothing.Nosaj544 (talk) 06:03, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
