User:BU RoBOT/autoassess

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Following a recent discussion at WP:VPR, there appears to be consensus for a bot task that automatically assesses the class of articles based on classes listed for other project templates on the same page. In other words, if WikiProject A has evaluated an article to be C-class and WikiProject B hasn't evaluated the article at all, such a bot task would automatically evaluate the article as C-class for WikiProject B.

Articles will only inherit the "standard" classes (FA, FL, GA, B, C, Start, and Stub) unless requested otherwise by the project, and articles which have conflicting classes listed on different WikiProject templates will be skipped. This task does not affect importance ratings in any way. In other words, this task is intentionally conservative to ensure that it doesn't make any problematic assessments. Additionally, the parameter |auto= will be set to "inherit" so you can easily set up a tracking category that tracks which articles have been assessed by the bot. ~ RobTalk 19:01, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

This bot task will operate on an opt-in basis. If you're involved in a WikiProject which might benefit from such a task, you're welcome to discuss the possibility on your project's talk page. I can provide an estimate of how many unassessed articles within a WikiProject would benefit from auto-assessment upon request. If there's consensus among WikiProject members to opt-in to auto-assessment (or a reasonable period of time goes by with no dissent), please visit User:BU RoBOT/autoassess and list the project.

If you have any questions, feel free to ping me here or message me on my talk page. You're also welcome to use the talk page here to discuss auto-assessment more broadly if you have any questions. Cheers! ~ RobTalk 21:14, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Requests

[edit]

If you're interested in auto-assessment for a WikiProject you're involved in, please list your WikiProject below with a link to a relevant discussion on the WikiProject showing consensus for auto-assessment or no response within a reasonable time period of a few days, signing your request. Please do not list WikiProjects that you aren't involved in. Thanks! ~ RobTalk 05:33, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
