The Delt Legends Fantasy Football League or Delt Legends League (DLL) is a fantasy football league currently consisting of 12 teams. The DLL’s 14-week regular season and 3-week playoff runs from early September to late December. Following the 14-week regular season, six teams from the league advance to the playoffs, with the top two teams receiving a bye in the first round. The playoff structure has changed over the years and starting in 2021 the league moved to a 14-week season. The overall standings are determined by regular season record (Wins - Loses - Ties, EX: 11-2-0), with a tiebreaker determined by overall total points scored for the season. Each playoff game is a single-elimination tournament, ending with the league championship in week 17, which is usually held in late December or early January.
The DLL was formed in 2005 as the Delta Shelta League. The league has been renamed four times total including Delta Shelta (2006 – Gamma Nu Pigskin Classic; 2007 – Gamma Nu Gridiron; 2008 – Delt Legends). The name “Delt Legends” has been the league name since the change in 2008. The first league championship was held on the National Football League (NFL) 2005-week 16 weekend, Saturday December 24th, 2005, thru Monday December 26th, 2005.
The DLL manager with the most DLL Championships belongs to Bryan Adams (Current team name, Frank Reynolds Little Beauties) with four. The most recent championship was held on the NFL’s 2023-week 17 weekend, Thursday December 28th, 2023, thru Monday December 31st, 2023. The current DLL champion is Drew's Dong Danglers (Drew Fitzherbert), who defeated To the Windows To the Wall-IR (Ray Goulet). This is manager Drews first DLL Title.
History

[edit]In 2005, eight men from The University of Maine Delta Tau Delta Fraternity Gamma Nu Chapter decide to make a Fantasy Football League named The Delta Shelta League. The founding managers were, Ross Theriault (Capn’s Crew), Drew Fitzherbert (Drew’s Dong Danglers), Bryan Adams (Patriots Rule), Shane Yardley (Cardinals), Josh Curtis (Demi-Gods), Matt Meader (WhyIsNickAheadOfMe?), Nick Altman (Rockin Rednecks), and Daniel Walsh (Boston Dominators). Ross Theriault was the first commissioner of the league. Of the eight original members only 5 remain in the league today. The 2005 inaugural season started with eight teams and a 16-week schedule with the final three weeks being the playoffs. All eight teams would make the playoffs in the inaugural season. During the 13-week season, one team would play all other teams twice, apart from only playing one team once. Schedule was made at random. Players for each team were drafted from a Live Standard Draft on Monday August 29th, 2005, at 3:30pm. Scoring type was set at Head-to-Head matchups. Roster Positions would include one starting Quarterback, three starting Wide Receivers, two starting Running Backs, one starting Tight End, one starting Kicker, one starting Defense, one starting Defensive Back, one starting Defensive Lineman, and six Bench Players.
The first matchups to ever take place in the league happen on Thursday September 8th, 2005, thru Monday September 12th, 2005. Nick Altman, Shane Walsh, Josh Curtis, and Shane Yardley capture the first wins in league history. The first year featured a lot of high scoring games and on week 10, Drews Dong Danglers (Drew Fitzherbert) scored 203.74, the most on the 2005 season. Drew Dong Danglers (Drew Fitzherbert) also captured the overall regular season champ by finishing the regular season as the 1st seed with a record of 11-2-0 (11 wins/2 loses/0 ties). The first championship was between WhyISNickAheadOfMe?(Matt Meader) Vs. Capn’s Crew (Ross Theriault). WhyISNickAheadOfMe? (Matt Meader) finished the season as the 5th seed with a record of 6-7-0 and Capn’s Crew (Ross Theriault) finished the season as the 2nd seed with a record of 8-5-0 WhyISNickAheadOfMe? became the first champion, by beating Capn’s Crew 168.22 to 126.60.
2006 Season and Expansion
[edit]In the sophomore year of the league’s existence, the league name was changed to Gamma Nu Pigskin Classic. It also featured 10 teams instead of eight. The league gained five new managers, Redskins (Will West), Rufio (Pat Healy), Chinese Waving Cats (Ken Lattari), Drew is a Homo (Ken Wicks), and Delt #1480 (Chuck Davis). The league lost three of its original members including Josh Curtis (Demi-Gods), (Nick Altman (Rockin Rednecks), and Shane Walsh (Boston Dominators). Nick and Walsh have never made a return to the league since 2005. Josh Curtis eventually returned to the league in 2011. The league once again ran for 16 weeks with the first 13 weeks being the season and the last three weeks being the playoffs. During the season the highest scoring team was Drew is a homo (Ken Wicks) who scored 235.50 during its matchup on Week 6 against Rufio (Pat Healy). Still to this day that score is the second highest scoring team in one week in league history. The regular season champ belongs to Andrews Anal Assault (Drew Fitzherbert) finish the regular season at 10-3-0 and entered the playoffs as the 1st seed
The 2006 playoffs featured the top eight teams making the tournament with the bottom two teams missing the playoffs. After a hard three week battle the second championship in league history featured BAC Collector 2 (Matt Meader) who finished the season as the 6th seed with a record of 6-7-0 Vs. Chinese Waving Cats (Ken Lattari) who finished the season as the 8th seed with a record of 5-8-0. This was the first time the lowest seed would appear in a final. In the end, BAC Collector 2 (Matt Meader) claimed the trophy and was his second in a row. The final score was 166.28 to 98.26.
2007 Season and Expansion
[edit]With two years under its belt the Delt Legends League grew even more in its third season. Within addition of two more teams, the league renamed itself as the Gamma Nu Gridiron. In 2007, the league grew to a 12-team league. The league gained three new managers, I Win You Lose (N/A), SoxFan33C (Nick Parker), and Fighting Irish (Mike Perrigo). The league lost one manager Redskins (Will West). This manager has never made a return to the league since 2006. Andrews Anal Assault (Drew Fitzherbert) yet again captured the regular season crown, for the third year in a row, by finishing the season as the 1st seed with a record of 11-2-0. The same trend goes with highest scoring team. For the second time in three years Andrews Anal Assault scored the highest team output for a single week by beating SoxFan33c (Nick Parker) 236.12 to 66.93 in their week 9 match-up. This was the highest point output in league history.
The 2007 playoffs featured the top eight teams making the tournament with the bottom four teams missing the playoffs. The third championship in league history featured Andrews Anal Assault (Drew Fitzherbert) who finished the season as the 1st seed with a record of 11-2-0 Vs. Delt#1480 (Chuck Davis) who finished the season as the 3rd seed with a record of 8-5-0. This was both managers first time making it to the final. Delt#1480 ended up coming away with the victory to capture his first and only title in his 17-year history in the league. The final score was 163.00 to 106.31.
2008 Season and Starting Roster Changes
[edit]The 2008 season had no expansion and featured 12 teams. The league changed to its new name to The Delt Legends League. This has been the name of the league ever since. The season featured two new managers, with two managers leaving. The new teams were, Dopamine (Dan Payne) and Beach Bums (Dan Potter). The managers that left were, SoxFan33C (Nick Parker) and I Win You Lose (N/A). 2008 brought the first major starting roster change to the league with the addition of another starting Defensive Player. The league also removed one Wide Receiver position and turned it into a Wide/Running Back/Flex Position. For the fourth year in a row, Drew’s Dong Danglers (Drew Fitzherbert) captured the regular season crown with finishing the season as the 1st seed with a record of 10-3-0. The 2008 season though featured a new highest scoring team. Cardinals (Shane Yardley) scored the highest point total for one week by beating Chinese Waving Cats 228.91 – 90.96 in week 2.
The 2008 playoffs nickname should have been “The Upset Central” playoffs. For the first time and only time in league history the lower seeds won each game minus the final (7th beat 8th). One other fact about the 2008 playoffs was this was the last year to feature eight teams in the playoffs. In the Quarterfinals, the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th seeds all won. In the Semifinals, the 7th and 8th seeds won. In the finals, two original managers meet. The first was two-time champion Gobias Industries (Matt Meader), looking to capture his third title in four years. The other was first-time finals appearance The Shitheads (Bryan Adams). Gobias Industries (Matt Meader) finish the season as the 8th seed with a record of 6-7-0. The Shitheads (Bryan Adams) finish the season as the 7th seed with a record of 7-6-0. As mentioned before the 7th seed won, meaning The Shitheads (Bryan Adams) captured his first title by winning 178.81 to 108.67. The point total by The Shitheads (Bryan Adams) is the highest point total in finals history.
2009 Season, Expansion, and Playoff Restructure
[edit]The most change in league history happened in 2009. For the first time in league history, there was 14 team's total. The biggest change was the new playoff system. For the previous four seasons the top eight teams would make the playoffs. In 2009 only the top six teams would make the playoffs, with the top two teams receiving first round byes. In addition to these changes the 2009 featured three new managers, Gingervitis (Erik Selberg), Helmet (Darren Hatch), and Game Time (Marcus). Only one manager left the league and that was Beach Bums (Dan Potter). The overall season champ was Gobias Industries (Matt Meader), who finished the season as the 1st seed with a record of 12-1-0. Gobias Industries (Matt Meader) also scored the highest point total for one week by defeating Al Davis 4 Prez (Drew Fitzherbert) in week 8 by a score of 204.52-112.43. One other note, Gobias Industries (Matt Meader) scored over 200 points three times in one season.
During the new bye-era playoff structure the finals had two new teams who have never reached the finals before. Original league founding member, Cardinals (Shane Yardley) finished the year as the 2nd seed with a record of 10-3-0. He would go up against Ross is a Homo (Ian Biggers) who finished the year as the 4th seed with a record of 8-5-0. Ross is a Homo (Ian Biggers) had great momentum going into the finals with taken down the season juggernaut Gobias Industries (Matt Meader) in the semifinals and his momentum wouldn’t slowdown in the finals. Ross is a Homo (Ian Biggers) captured his first title by beating Cardinals (Shane Yardley) 158.62-130.67.
2010 Season and Downsizing
[edit]The 2010 season would feature for the first time a league manager downsizing. In 2009, there were 14 teams and in 2010 there would only be 12 teams. Only one new manager joined the league, and it was BoNads (Marcus’ Brother). Three managers would leave the league. Manager Ken Wicks would leave the league after spending four years in it. Ken Wicks would later return to the league in 2017. The other two managers to leave would be 2009 champ Ross is a Homo (Ian Biggers) and Gingervitis (Erik Selberg). Erik has not returned to league since 2009. Ian would come back to the league, but only for one season in 2016 and has yet to return. The season champ was Taterville (Mike Perrigo) who finished the season as the 1st seed with a record of 10-3-0. The first time in league history no one would score over 200 points. The highest one week point output would come from Game Time (Marcus) who beat Chinese Waving Cats (Ken Lattari) in week 5 190.81 to 141.61.
The 2010 playoffs would feature an original founding member match in the finals. The first team would be the 3rd seed Rabbit Left? (Ross Theriault) finishing the season with a record of 10-3-0. The second team would be the 5th seed Cardinals (Shane Yardley) finishing the season with a record of 8-5-0. This would be The Cardinals (Shane Yardley) second year in a row making the finals. This would be both teams second appearance in the finals. Both managers have never won a title. In the end, Rabbit Left? (Ross Theriault) would prevail and capture his first DLL Title by a score of 141.96-121.12.
2011 Season
[edit]The 2011 season would feature no big changes except for some new managers and old mangers leaving the league. 2011 brought the arrival of two brand new managers, Malcolm Death Squad (Jason Malcolm) and Smashin on Sunday (Billy). 2011 also brought the return of original founding manager Spoiler Alert (Josh Curtis). The league lost three managers, Helmet (Darren Hatch), BoNads (Marcus’ Brother), and Taterville (Mike Perrigo). Kyropractic (Pat Healy) would go on to win the regular season crown with being the 1st seed and finishing with a record of 10-3-0. Gobias Industries (Matt Meader) would score the most points in one week during the regular season by beating Cardinals (Shane Yardley) 202.58 to 142.02 in their week 2 match-up.
The 2011 playoffs would have both first-time managers making the playoffs. Unfortunately, both would not make the finals. The finals feature the 1st seed, Kyropractic (Pat Healy) who finished the season with a 10-3-0 record. This would be Kyropractics (Pat Healy) first and only time in the final. He would be going against the 3rd seed The Mudsharks (Bryan Adams) who finished the season with an 8-5-0 record. This would be The Mudsharks (Bryan Adams) second appearance in a final, with winning his previous one. This final featured one of the closes finishes in finals history, with The Mudsharks (Bryan Adams) narrowly beating Kyropractics (Pat Healy) 165.00 – 159.98. This would only be the second time a 1st seed has made it to the finals in league history and the second time the 1st seed would lose in the finals to the lower seed. Another fun fact is the previous time the 1st seed was in the finals, they lost to the 3rd seed as well. 3rd seed record Vs. 1st seed in finals history is 2-0-0.
2012 Season
[edit]The 2012 season would follow the same style of the 2011 season with not much change. The league gained one new manager Mad Dawgs (Josh Yardley) and lose one manager Game Time (Marcus), who hasn’t returned to the league since 2011. Cardinals (Shane Yardley) would go on to be the overall regular season champ and finish as the 1st seed with a record of 10-3-0. The highest point total for one week came from 4th & Veazie (Ross Theriault) who beat Cardinals (Shane Yardley) 201.84-149.64 in their week 4 match-up.
For the first time in league playoff history the top two teams would meet in the finals. In the 2012 playoffs we would see the 1st seed Cardinals (Shane Yardley) appear in the finals for the third time in finals history (Winless in previous 2). He finished the season with a 10-3-0 record. We would also see the 2nd seed Smashin on Sunday (Billy) appear in his first finals. His record was 8-5-0. It was a long, hard-fought final, but destiny finally arrived for the original founding member Cardinals (Shane Yardley). He won his first final by beating Smashin on Sunday (Billy) 158.44-150.30. This would be Cardinals (Shane Yardley) first championship win.
2013 Season, Roster Changes and Expansion
[edit]2013 brought a lot of change to the DLL. One major change to the starting roster was turning the Wide Receiver/Running Back Flex position into the Wide Receiver/Running Back/Tight End Flex position. The league also grew back to 14 teams, the first time since 2009. The league didn’t lose one manager from 2012, but it gained two more. The new managers were Strong Finish (Steve Turgeon) and The Morning Woodsman (Michael Healy). The 2013 season belong to Dr. Zeus (Ross Theriault) who was dominant the whole season. Ending the regular season as the 1st seed and finishing with a record of 11-2-0. Dr. Zeus (Ross Theriault) also scored close to 180 points more than the 2nd seed finisher for most points overall in the season. Dr. Zeus (Ross Theriault) also scored the highest point total for a single week by beating Malcolm Death Squad (Jason Malcolm) 212.28-121.86 in their week 1 match-up.
The 2013 playoffs there was no change to how the season went for Dr. Zeus (Ross Theriault). With finishing the season as the 1st seed with a record of 11-2-0 Dr. Zeus went onto the finals to face the 2nd seed Cardinals (Shane Yardley) with a record of 8-5-0. This would be the second time manager Ross and Shane would meet in the finals. They meet in the 2010 DLL Finals with Ross taking the title. This would be manager Ross’ 3rd time making the finals (Finals record to this point 1-1-0). This final would be manager Shane’s record setting fourth time being in the finals and the second time going back-to-back finals appearance (’09 – ’10 and ’12 – ’13). This was also the fourth time original founding managers would meet in league history. In the end, the season story never changed with Dr. Zeuz (Ross Theriault) taking his second DLL Title in four years by a score of 147.04-118.42. Cardinals (Shane Yardley) finals record would drop to 1-3-0. One interesting fact is manager Ross and Shane are the only managers to ever meet in the finals more than once in league history (2010 and 2013).
2014 Season and Downsizing
[edit]2014 brought only a couple of changes with the league reverting back to 12 teams. The league has remained at 12 teams to date. The league lost two managers including Smashin on Sunday (Bill) and The Morning Woodsman (Michael Healy). Make’em Pay (Pat Healy) would take the regular season crown with finishing as the 1st seed with a record of 10-3-0. The team with highest point total for one week belongs to Anal? (Drew Fitzherbert) who beat Chinese Waving Cats (Ken Lattari) 216.12-137.70 in their week 8 match-up.
In the 2014 playoffs two teams would face each other who have been in the finals once before, but both teams would be searching for their first DLL Title. The first team, in the finals, finishing the season as the 2nd seed with a record of 10-3-0 would be Chinese Waving Cats (Ken Lattari) and the second team, in the finals, finishing the season as the 5th seed with a record of 8-5-0 would be Anal? (Drew Fitzherbert). The last time manager Ken Lattari was in the finals was 2006 and the last time manager Drew Fitzherbert was in the finals was 2007. This final would be the lowest scoring final in league history with a combined score of only 232.28 points scored. The 2014 DLL Title would go to Chinese Waving Cats (Ken Lattari) by beating Anal? (Drew Fitzherbert) 118.76-113.52.
2015 Season
[edit]The 2015 DLL season didn’t have any changes. Same 12 teams stayed in the league from 2014. The regular season champ would be Mad Dawgs (Josh Yardley) who would finish the season as the 1st seed with a record of 12-1-0. Dorito Dinks (Bryan Adams) would score the highest point total for one week with beating Hose Beaters (Steve Turgeon) 215.70-130.58 in their week 7 match-up.
The 2015 DLL playoffs would feature the highest seed Vs. the lowest seed in the finals. The 1st seed, Mad Dawgs (Josh Yardley), with a record of 12-1-0, would go up against the 6th seed, Malcolm Death Squad (Jason Malcolm), with a record of 7-6-0. This would be both managers first time in a DLL Finals. In a valiant effort Malcolm Death Squad (Jason Malcolm) would go on to beat the 3rd seed and 2nd seed to make the final but ran out of gas. Mad Dawgs (Josh Yardley) ended up taking the DLL Title and his first one by winning the highest combine scoring (326.72) final in DLL history. The final score was 165.52-161.20.
2016 Season and Manager Meeting
[edit]The 2016 DLL season brought some change to the league. During the offseason the first ever Managers Meeting took place to discuss the future of the league and any rule changes that needed to happen. The meeting took place on August 27th, 2016. Managers who attended were Bryan Adams, Ross Theriault, Drew Fitzherbert, Ken Lattari, Chuck Davis, Jason Malcolm, Shane Yardley, and Ray Goulet. There was five voting topics brought forward to discuss and vote on. The first topic was to vote for dues. The decision was made to have no dues for 2016. The second topic is to vote on trades. The decision was made that the proposer of the trade needs to post the trade on the group Facebook page. Decision three was to vote for Commissioner/Assistant Commissioner. The decision was made that the commissioner would be voted on by the group and the assistant commissioner would be the previous year's winner. Decision four was to vote on a keeper league. The decision was made to not have a keeper league. The final topic was to vote for a last place punishment. The decision was made that the manager who finishes last place would have to paint a portrait of the winner of whatever the winner wanted. Some other changes to league included, added one IR spot, draft picks can be traded and the removal of Individual Defensive Player’s. Since 2016 the league has not had starting defensive players.
The league also gained two new managers, All bout the Johnson (Raymond Goulet) and the return of Heddy Knobber (Ian Biggers) who hasn’t been in the league since 2009. The league lost two managers as well. Original founding member Gobias Industries (Matt Meader) left the league after a 11-year run. Also, Hose Beaters (Steve Turgeon) left the league.
The new changes brought a wild season with the most trades in league history up to this point. There was a total of nine trades throughout the season. The overall season champ was All the Single Hades (Ross Theriault) who finished as the 1st seed with a record of 12-1-0. All the Single Hades (Ross Theriault) also had the highest scoring team in one week with beating Kitten Mittons 187.22-115.58 in their week 8 match-up.
After a wild season and a wild playoff, two original founding managers would face off in the 12th DLL Finals. With a combine total of seven finals appearances this was a heavy weight match-up. The first team was the season champ All the single Hades (Ross Theriault) who finished the season as the 1st seed and a record of 12-1-0. This would be manager Ross’ fourth appearance in the finals with a record of 2-1-0. The second team would be Kitten Mittons (Bryan Adams) who finished the season as the 2nd seed with a record of 10-3-0. This would be manager Bryans third finals appearance with a record of 2-0-0. Both teams were dominant all season with both teams finishing with points for well over 1800 (The only teams to do so). This would be the third time in finals history the top two seeds would meet. This would be the first time out of the three meetings of the top two teams that the 2nd seed would win. Kitten Mittons would go on to remain undefeated in final appearances by upsetting All the Single Hades (Ross Theriault) by a score of 157.58-119.22. Manager Bryan would be the first manager to reach three titles won. Manager Ross holds the record for most finals' appearance with 5 (Record 3-2).
2017 Season and 2nd Annual Manager’s Meeting
[edit]The 2017 DLL Season began with the Annual Manager’s Meeting on August 12th, 2017. Three key decisions were made at the meeting. The first decision was to vote on dues. The decision was made to have dues be the same amount each year for three years. The second vote was to keep draft pick trades or not. The decision was made that managers can’t trade draft picks. The last vote was for new commissioner. The league voted to have manager Ken Lattari be league commissioner.
In 2017, the league would welcome one returning manager back to the league. Dirty Daves (Ken Wicks) would return after being out of the league since 2009. The league would lose one manger Heady Knobber (Ian Biggers) and he hasn’t returned to league since 2016. The 2017 DLL regular season champ would go to All the Single Hades (Ross Theriault) again for the second straight season who finished as the 1st seed with a record of 10-3-0. Also, for the second year in a row, All the Single Hades (Ross Theriault) would score the most points in one week by beating Make ‘em Pay (Pat Healy) 174.98-96.62 in their week 1 match-up.
In the 13th DLL Finals, we would feature a first-time finals appearance manager and a third time finals appearance manager. The first manager would be ForWhomLevBellTolls (Ray Goulet) who finished the season as the 2nd seed with a record of 10-3-0. This would be manager Ray’s one and only finals appearance to date. The second manager would be Chinese Waving Cats (Ken Lattari) who finished the season as the 4th seed with a record of 7-6-0. This would be manager Ken Lattari’s third appearance (previous final record 1-1-0). After a hard-fought final, it would be Chinese Waving Cats (Ken Lattari) who would take his second title by a score of 166.02-136.60.
2018 Season and 3rd Annual Managers Meeting
[edit]The 2018 DLL season started with the Third Annual Managers Meeting. In attendance was managers Ross Theriault, Chuck Davis, Drew Fitzherbert, Bryan Adams, Ken Lattari, Jason Malcolm, Shane Yardley, Josh Yardley, and Raymond Goulet. A lot of decisions were made during this meeting. Some of the major ones were: Commissioner vote for Ken Lattari, Assistant Commissioner Ray Goulet, Draft day must take place after final pre-season game, Exploratory committee to look into sizes and cost of brass plate engraving, Bottom two teams have to host a weekly podcast about the current season, playoff reseeding (First seed plays Lowest seed), Exploratory committee to add punter position for follow season, FAAB waiver rules added ($100 default per season), if you go 0-12-0 for the season, there will be a punishment (Tabled for ‘19/’20 season), Punishment for manager who doesn’t have painting done by Annual Managers Meeting must draft a kicker in first round, Punishment for manager who doesn’t have painting done by trade deadline, will have their team locked and will possibly be banned for the following year (No dues returned), If last place team decided to not participate in the punishment, the manager will be banned for three years, return would depend on open spot in three years.
The 2018 regular season would see the same 12 teams from 2017 return. The regular season champ would go to Mad Dawgs (Josh Yardley) finishing the season as the 1st seed with a record of 11-2-0. The team to score the most points in one week would go to Anal? (Drew Fitzherbert) who beat Cardinals (Shane Yardley) 209.98-107.32 in their week 6 match-up.
The 14th DLL finals would feature two original found members facing off for the title. Combined finals appearances for both teams including this one would be seven. The first team would be Anal? (Drew Fitzherbert) finishing the season as the 3rd seed with a record of 9-4-0. This would be manager Drew’s third finals appearance and he would be seeking his first title (Previous finals record 0-2-0). The second team would be Ongo Gablogians (Bryan Adams) finishing the season as the 4th seed with a record of 8-5-0. This would be manager Bryans fourth finals appearance and he would be looking to remain undefeated in the finals (Previous finals record 3-0-0). In the end, manager Drew would come up short and fail to capture his first title with Ongo Gablogians (Bryan Adams) taking the title with a score of 159.20-148.74. This would be manager Bryan’s fourth title breaking his own previous record of most titles. This would be manager Bryan's second title in three years and the fourth in 11 years.
2019 Season and 4th Annual Managers Meeting "Naturdays Meeting"
[edit]The 2019 DLL Season started with the Fourth Annual Managers Meeting. The managers who attended were Ross Theriault, Chuck Davis, Drew Fitzherbert, Bryan Adams, Ken Lattari, Shane Yardley, Pat Healy, and Raymond Goulet. Only two major changes were made at the meeting. The first major decision was to vote for a punishment for a team that finishes 0-12. The vote passed and the decision was made that if a team finished 0-12 then the league would name that team for the following year. The second major decision was to change how the league trades happen. It was voted and passed that trades are instant upon agreement from both managers. The topics that were presented but failed were Keepers, Division Restructure, 3 WR's and 14 team league.
The 2019 regular season would see the same 12 teams from 12 teams from 2018. The regular season champ would go to All the Single Hades (Ross Theriault) finishing the season as the 1st seed with a record of 11-2-0. All the Single Hades (Ross Theriault) would also score the most points in one week by beating Cardinals (Shane Yardley) 197.36-80.50 in their Week 5 Match-up.
The 2019 also included the first year of the loser podcast. The podcast's name was "The Losers Corner." The Losers Corner debuted on September 10, 2019, with episode 1 titled, "Hey Guys, Bryan Lost!" The podcast ran for 14 episodes. Shane Yardley and Raymond Goulet were the hosts of the critically acclaimed podcast. Through the first year, they entertained the league with Ray's drinking and Shane's in-depth analysis (ok, so maybe this is Shane writing this, but Drew reminded me I could edit this page, so blame him). It was generally considered a success. The podcast was nominated by Podcast Monthly Magazine, as the best new podcast of 2019.
The 2019 DLL playoffs would feature two firsts. Lab Rats (Josh Curtis) would pick up his first playoff win in his team's history and would also make it to his first final appearance. This would be the 4th time in DLL history the 1st seed would face the 2nd seed in the finals. The first team in the finals would feature the 1st seed All the Single Hades (Ross Theriault) who finish the season with a 11-2-0 record. The second team would be Lab Rats (Josh Curtis) who finish the season as the 2nd seed and a record of 9-4-0. Sadly, the magical run by Lab Rats came to an end. Lab Rats ended up falling to All the Single Hades by a score of 162.70 - 110.40. This would be manager Ross' record 5th Finals Appearance and 3rd championship win. Manager Ross is in second on the all-time titles list only behind manager Bryan (4).
2020 Season "Pandemic Season" and the 5th Annual Managers "Virtual" Meeting
[edit]The 2020 DLL Season happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, and many believed sports wouldn't happen. The NFL did announce they would play their season, so the DLL would also. The season started like it normally would with the Annual Managers Meeting, except with a little twist. The meeting was done virtually through ZOOM. The managers in attendance were Ross Theriault, Chuck Davis, Drew Fitzherbert, Bryan Adams, Ken Lattari, Shane Yardley, Pat Healy, Raymond Goulet, Josh Curtis, and Ken Wicks. During the meeting some major rules were implemented if the NFL season wouldn't reach completion. The DLL passed a law stating if the league made it to the completion of week 7, it would be considered a completed season. Also, under this new law if the season would end after week 7, but before the season completion of week 16, then the current standings (when season is canceled) is the final standings. Punishments are kept, painting completion is done based on percentage of season completed, the champion and 2nd highest point total team gets their money back. Remaining money goes into the follow seasons pot. If the season were to end before the completion of week 7, then the season would be canceled. No punishments would be handed out and no title would be given out. Other changes included, dues raised to $25 and Max COVID IR spots were made.
This was the 2nd year of the loser podcast as well. As with last year's punishment the managers of the two worst teams had to host a podcast. With "The Losers Corner" getting canceled from the airwaves, even though it was highly acclaimed as one of the best new podcasts, a new podcast had to step in, and it didn't disappoint. "The Cellar Dwellers Show" was the name of the new podcast and it became a sensation after just one episode. It was hosted by Chuck Davis and Pat Healy. The first episode duped; "Familiar Territory" aired on September 15th, 2020. The podcast ran for 16 full episodes and also included 4 bonus segments and a "best of" show. In total the podcast was listen to 380 times across all the episodes, including some listens in the UK and Singapore. Week 7's episode named "We made it! Pop the Champagne..Wait Lattari Did What?!?" was the highest listen to episode at 44 plays. "The Cellar Dwellers Show" was nominated for numerous awards in 2020 including Best Podcast, Best New Podcast, and Best Editing. Along with these awards host Pat Healy was nominated for Best New Co-Anchor. With all this great success it seemed this show would go on to do amazing things and influence the next generation of listeners. Sadly, though all good things seem to come to an end. All this new fame would seem to go to host Chuck Davis's head and he would split with his co-host. Right after the season ended, Chuck tried to go off and do a solo act, but unfortunately his new show never got off the ground.
The show must go on though! According to Podcast Monthly Magazine, a new podcast is in the works to replace "The Cellar Dwellers Show" for 2021. In the article, it states that the new hosts are managers Ken Lattari and Josh Curtis. No name of the show has been giving, but with the success of "The Cellar Dwellers Show" these new hosts have big shoes to fill.
The 2020 DLL Season retained all previous managers from 2019. The league would also run a complete season with no interruptions or shutdowns. The league still consists of 12 teams and a 13-week regular season. The regular season champ would go to Anal? (Drew Fitzherbert), who finished the season with a record of 12-1-0. This finish would tie the record for best overall season ever (Josh Y. 2015 and Ross T 2016). Drew also broke his own record with capturing his 5th best season title. The team to score the highest point total in one week was Cardinals (Shane Yardley) who beat Mantis Toboggans (Bryan Adams) in week 2 with a score of 196.84-146.46.
The 2020 DLL Playoffs would feature some experienced teams fighting for the title. The six teams fighting for the trophy would combine for 53 playoff appearances and 46 overall playoff wins. The finals would feature one manager looking for their first championship and another who would be looking for their second. The 1st seed Anal? (Drew Fitzherbert) who finished the season at 12-1-0 would be going against the 3rd seed Mad Dawgs (Josh Yardley) who finished with a record of 8-5-0. This would be Anal?'s 4th final appearance and his 4th attempt to capture his first DLL title with losing in 2007, 2014, and 2018. Mad Dawgs would be going for his 2nd title in his 2nd finals appearance (Won in 2015). In the end, it was a hard-fought battle (and Diggs), but Mad Dawgs (Josh Yardley) would capture his 2nd title, by beating Anal? (Drew Fitzherbert) 131.42-123.24.
2021 Season and 6th Annual Managers Meeting
[edit]The 2021 DLL Season would get back to its roots, by having an in-person managers meeting. Many topics were brought up, but only two new bylaws were passed. Starting 2022 dues for the league will now be set at $50 for each manager. The second bylaw to be passed is how the draft order will be set. At season end depending on where a manager finishes, each manager gets to select where they would like to draft. The order is set as the following: 7,8,9,10,11,12,5,6,4,3,2,1. With the new bylaw in effect starting in 2022, this means the manager who finished 7th gets to pick where they would like to draft (1st, 2nd, 12th...etc.). Each manager, after the 7th place finisher, will pick based on the order stated above. This was also the first year the NFL would have an 18-week schedule. Following suit, the DLL decided to have a 17-week schedule instead of a 16-week schedule (14-week season and 3-week playoff).
Continuing with the trend there was a new podcast to accompany the 2021 season. "The Cat and The Rat Show" began airing after week 1 of the season. Hosts Ken Lattari (Chinese Waving Cats) and Josh Curtis (Lab Rats) would grace the ears of many listeners. The show would produce 13 episodes. Following the same format as previous shows, The Cat and The Rat Show would throw in some new takes, which brought some uniqueness to the show. Ken (The Cat) would base his predictions off dice rolls he made live on air. The dice he would use would be D&D Dice. Also, for the first time, the show would feature a sponsor. The sponsor was "Iron Clad Eats." Iron Clad was a food truck run by Dan McClusky and Chef Joe McClusky. Some critics called this show the best, but some would say it was the worst of three. All in all, the show gained many followers and was a delight to listen to each week.
The 2021 DLL Season featured the same 12 teams to start the season. The season would be the first season the league would feature a 14-week season. During the season one team manager decided to step down from their managerial duties. Manager Drew Fitzherbert (Anal?) would step down after week 5 with a record of only 1-4. The league would bring in Manager Matthew Meader (Andrews Incompetence). This would be Manager Meaders first return to the league since 2015. The regular season champ would go to Party in the ZeuSA (Ross Theriault), who finished the season with a record of 11-3-0. This would be manager Ross' fifth season title (2013, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021.) The team to score the highest point total in one week was also Party in the ZeuSA who beat Dirty Daves Movies (Ken Wicks) in week5 with a score of 185.56-116.52.
The 2021 DLL Playoffs would feature a championship for the ages. For the third time in DLL history, Cardinals (Shane Yardley) would go up against Party in the ZeuSA (Ross Theriault) for the title. Cardinals would enter the finals as the 3rd seed and Party in the ZeuSA would be the 1st seed. This would be the 9th time in DLL history where the season champ would make the finals (1st seed record in finals is 4-5 all-time.) The first time these managers meet in the finals was in 2010 where manager Ross would capture his first DLL title beating manager Shane by a score of 141.96-121.12.
