Personal background

[edit]

Greetings. I'm Dirtlawyer1, a practicing attorney who specializes in commercial real estate development and related practice areas. If you came to my user page because you were curious what a "dirt lawyer" is, here's the answer: it's professional jargon commonly used by attorneys to refer to a lawyer whose practice includes real estate transactions; "dirt" is lawyer slang for "real estate."

I am originally from the State of Florida, but I am now a permanent resident of Atlanta, Georgia. I graduated from the University of Florida, and I remain an avid fan of the university's Florida Gators intercollegiate sports teams. I actively edit articles related to the university, college sports generally, professional baseball and football, Olympic swimming, and the City of Atlanta. I also actively participate in several WikiProjects whose scope includes those topics.

Wikipedia contributions

[edit]

I was primarily responsible for the elevation of the following fifteen Wikipedia articles to "Good Article" status, and the promotion of one of the fifteen to "Featured Article":

Andrew Sledd, Latin and Greek scholar, essayist, theology professor, university president;
Robert Q. Marston, medical doctor, research scientist, director of the National Institutes of Health, university president;
Albert A. Murphree, university president, mathematics professor;
John J. Tigert, U.S. Commissioner of Education, university president, College Football Hall of Fame member;
Theresa Andrews, competition swimmer, two-time Olympic gold medalist;
Catie Ball, competition swimmer, Olympic gold medalist, former world record-holder;
Robert Cade, medical doctor, university professor, research scientist, inventor of Gatorade;
Tracy Caulkins, competition swimmer, three-time Olympic gold medalist, former world record-holder;
Nicole Haislett, competition swimmer, three-time Olympic gold medalist, eight-time collegiate champion;
Mike Heath, competition swimmer, three-time Olympic gold medalist, four-time collegiate champion;
David Larson, competition swimmer, Olympic gold medalist, former world record-holder;
Tim McKee, competition swimmer, three-time Olympic silver medalist;
Mark Stockwell, competition swimmer, three-time Olympic medalist, sports administrator;
Dara Torres, competition swimmer, twelve-time Olympic medalist, oldest swimmer to win an Olympic medal; and
Mary Wayte, competition swimmer, four-time Olympic medalist, television sportscaster.

Research access

[edit]

For other editors who need access to archival newspapers or academic journals for their researching, writing and editing of Wikipedia articles, I have access to Newspapers.com, NewspaperArchive.com and JSTOR via Wikipedia user accounts. If you require particular archival newspaper or academic journal articles for your Wikipedia work, please let me know and I will see if I can find the article you are seeking through these online services.

Alternative accounts

[edit]

I have three alternative Wikipedia registered accounts: (1) Dirtlawyer2: Olympics, (2) Dirtlawyer3: Sock Hunter and (3) Dirtlawyer4: All-Americans. I use all three alternative accounts primarily to maintain large watch lists of certain categories of Wikipedia articles, and rarely make any edits from them.

The Teamwork Barnstar
Long overdue... I've been meaning to thank you for your work to con-
tinue improving Florida–Georgia football rivalry. It's a topic about
which both sides have strong passions, and you've helped reach
compromises that were acceptable to both sides and made the art-
icle better. Thanks for your work!

The Original Barnstar
Thank you for THIS. It's nice to see great clean up on articles as
opposed to having the article "tagged" for cleanup. Thanks for gett-
ing dirty and doing work.

The Socratic Barnstar
Very rarely do people take the time to do the research and set out
the arguments as clearly, eloquently and methodically as you did in
the AfD debate The Michigan - Toledo game. If that doesn't justify a
Socratic barnstar, then I don't know what does. --Legis (talk - contribs)

swimmers and university presidents
Thank you for quality articles such as Catie Ball and Andrew Sledd, for starting cleanup here with "I do not believe ", for "good and thorough work pertaining to articles about your alma mater", for precision and missing, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar
It says that this barnstar is awarded to those who have gone above
and beyond to prevent Wikipedia from being used for fraudulent
purposes. I hope that includes disingenuous behaviour that derails
