History and Origins

[edit]

The current Mills & Reeve practice was formed in 1987, out of the merger of Francis & Co and Mills & Reeve, forming Mills & Reever Francis <NEED REFERENCE>. Francis & Co was founded in 1861 under the name Francis, Webster & Riches.[2] The original Mills & Reeve was practicing at least as early as 1902.[5]

In 2013, Mills & Reeve acquired Manchester-based law firm George Davies.[6]

Notable Staff

[edit]

Sports lawyer Mark Hovell works as an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, an international body set up to settle sports-related disputes.[7] In 2013, he was interviewed by Sky Sports News regarding spot-fixing allegations in British football.[8]
