User:Greg Tyler/Wikipedia is a James Bond film

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The film series Wikipedia was originally conceived by Richard Fleming, but its popularity was considerably increased when Jimbo Broccoli and Larry Saltzman produced it in 2001, though the latter left after a while, leaving Jimbo to produce the series on his own.

Wikipedia centres around a shadowy organisation, which employs people to protect it's (and it's parents') best interests. Most of these agents are not made apparent during the film series, but some are much more visible. These 00 Agents are specially trained in certain skills, and have a licence to kill.

Villains[edit]

Wikipedia features a plethora of villains (often referred to as "baddies" or "trolls"). They appear at regular intervals, seemingly from nowhere, and quickly gain worldwide recognition. However, it soon proves that the secret organisation, in particular its 00 Agents, are an unstoppable force who always save the day (though often at the last minute).

Typically, 00 Agents make fatal slip-ups which, in any other context, would lead to ruining their current mission. However, they somehow manage to pull a trick out of the bag that lets them resolve the situation and defeat the villains, who are typically dealt with in extravagant ways, followed by a sarcastic comment from the 00 Agent.[Parallel needed]

Sometimes, villains return for a second outing on the Wikipedia band wagon. Sometimes they appear in a sneaky disguise or with a group of clones. Whilst the resulting investigation by Wikipedia's clerical staff may take some time, the villain always gets their comeuppance.

Tools of the trade[edit]

Fans of Wikipedia are often excited by the tools that the agents use during the films. Most recognisable, and visible throughout the series, are the guns the stars use. Some of these are more powerful than others, but often the less powerful ones turn out to be those that ultimately destroy the villain.

More heralded by fans, perhaps, are the exciting gadgets that agents use. Whilst some seem less useful than others, they are all used at some point — usually to devastating effect. We owe these gadgets to the elusive Q, who seems to be in multiple places at once and can always create the tools needed by agents.

But what would Wikipedia be without its automobiles? Used to devastating effect, agents use these to travel between pages and chase villains to all corners of the world. Normally, to Q's disgust, agents crash their vehicles, which then have to be replaced. The series also features more powerful vehicles, which are capable of taking the agent outside of their jurisdiction. Some more ambitious agents try and enforce rules in this area, but it typically transpires that the villains escape.

Personalities[edit]

Wikipedia's main characters are known for their extreme personalities. Sarcasm is commonplace, especially when neutralising targets. Similarly, agents are known for their subtle and impeccable sense of humour. Less admirably, they are also rather egotistical. They get their thrills from gambling, socialising and flirting with only the finest women.

Agents are also known for their famous quotations, which they use on regular occasion. The transcript of the origin of one such phrase is shown below:

Over time these quotations have led to agents speaking in a code of capital letters, totally unfathomable to newcomers to the series but a joy to fans. These have developed to such a level that it is possible for the most devoted fans to predict the entire dialogue of a scene.

Structure[edit]

Wikipedia is part of a series of different departments and outposts, all organised from the central base. To help agents around the world, Wikipedia has stations spread around the world, named alphabetically and ranging from alpha to zulu. Whilst the agents of Wikipedia often work with these other stations, they sometimes just send extra work to their foreign colleagues.

Wikipedia has led to a series of parody films. Perhaps most notable is Wikitruth, suspected to have been created by comedian Mike Myers. Wikitruth parodies the original by creating an over-exaggerated environment, subtly criticising the series with witty jokes at its expense.
