- Mollusks, I have 60 published papers, a list is here.
- I have lots of fieldwork experience with, and am good at identifying, the British non-marine Mollusca (land and freshwater species).
- I also have done considerable field work with and can identify most of: the British marine mollusks, the marine mollusks of the West Coast of North America (especially of Southern California, and the marine mollusks of both eastern North America and the Caribbean tropical faunal zone, which is currently my particular area of study.
- I also have some experience in paleontology, including two publications on Pleistocene fossil mollusks. A pdf of the American Paleontologist article (p. 12–13) is here.
- I am happy to call myself a naturalist in the British tradition. I usually will agree to being called a biologist.
- I have had a number of years experience in museums (MCZ, AMNH) with mollusks, including five years with fossil mollusks.

- I have visited Nevis 21 times, also see St. Kitts und Nevis. I know something about classic films (especially Hitchcock movies). I have a long-standing interest in Tibetan Buddhism, and vegetarian food. I have a special interest in the history of National Lampoon magazine and in humor and cartooning in general. I am reasonably knowledgeable on the subject of Menopause and other women's health topics. I have a pretty good background in fashion history and fabrics. I know a fair bit about surfing, swimming, and all kinds of other seaside stuff. Oh, I also know more than a little about Hatha Yoga, writing for artists, various kinds of music, and other stuff besides...
