Astrologer, editor and author Jessica Adams was born in London in 1964 and emigrated with her family to Launceston in 1973, later attending Brooks High School, Alanvale Community College and the University of Tasmania, where she graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy. Jessica then attended the Australian Film Television and Radio School, graduating with a further B.A. in Screenwriting. Her fiction includes the Australian and UK bestseller Single White E-Mail (Pan Macmillan), Tom Dick and Debbie Harry, and the Top 20 UK bestsellers I'm A Believer and Cool For Cats. Her editing work includes a series of books in aid of the charities War Child and No Strings - Girls' Night In, Girls' Night In - Gentlemen By Invitation, Big Night Out, Girls' Night In 4, Kids' Night In, and Kids' Night In 2. The series has featured everyone from Bob Geldof to Nick Hornby and has made $2.5 million for the charities concerned.

Jessica is perhaps best known as an astrologer and writes regular horoscope columns in The Australian Women's Weekly, Vogue (Australia and Asia) and in England, Cosmopolitan magazine. Her astrology books include Astrology For Women (HarperCollins) and the Handbag Horoscope series for Penguin. In 2014 Jessica Adams launched new premium content services including the Eastern Astrology forecast Chinascopes and her divination tool The Astrology Oracle. Jessica has been a team editor on four Top Ten bestsellers across the world – The Holiday Goddess Guide to Paris, London, New York and Rome (HarperCollins), In Bed With(Penguin/Viking), Girls’ Night In (Penguin/HarperCollins) and Kids’ Night In(Puffin/HarperCollins). She is also listed on the Tasmanian Government’s index of Significant Tasmanian Women and is listed in The Who’s Who of Australian Women.

Girls Night In was started about 15 years ago Jessica Adams, Chris Manby and Fiona Walker created the charity fundraising Girls’ Night In series in London and Sydney with Penguin Australia and HarperCollins, with the support of the Curtis Brown literary agency. The paperback collection, together with its spin-off journal, audiobook and childrens’ sister project Kids’ Night In (Puffin and HarperCollins) has involved some of the biggest names in publishing and entertainment for more than a decade, including Stella McCartney, J.K.Rowling, Kate Moss, Bob Geldof, Nick Hornby and Candace Bushnell. A team of editors including Maggie Alderson, Imogen Edwards-Jones, Nick Earls, Lauren Henderson, Carole Matthews and Sarah Mlynowski joined Jessica and Chris to take the series across America, Europe and Australia between 2000 and 2014 with a rising total of $3.5 million in sales raised for War Child.
