The Battle of Dholpur was a military engagement fought between the Marathas led by Malhar Rao Holkar and the Jats led by Jawahar Singh, with support from the Sikhs, on March 13-14, 1766, near Dholpur, a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The battle was part of the Maratha-Jat Wars and resulted in a Jat victory.[1]

Aftermath

[edit]

The Marathas suffered heavy losses, with many of their troops killed or wounded. Several hundred horses were also captured by the Jats in the nearby ravines of the Chambal river. The defeated Maratha generals sought refuge in Dholpur, but the city was eventually captured by the Jats, who also captured several Maratha generals, including Sultanji.[2]
