Talking Points - A Personal Outcomes Approach is

Talking Points - A Personal Outcomes Approach has been developed in Scotland as a move from delivering health and social care serviced based on the outcomes that are important to people and their carers. It is a shift that has been heralded as key to creating innovative and responsive services capable of satisfying individual user and carer aspirations. The Scottish Government has promoted this shift by announcing that: “Our national priorities must be about outcomes – the real improvements that people see in their communities and in their lives.

Outcomes in this context are understood both as the goals and aspiratins that people and thier carers want to achieve in partnership with services, and as the impact or effect of services on individual lives.

The Talking Points approach builds on previous research done at York University [1] and Glasgow University [2][3]
