The Yiddishkeit 101 Literature Award was established in 5777 (2016-17) to recognize books which excel in articulating aspects of Jewish minhag (custom) and halakha (Torah-obedient lifestyle) in a fresh and unique way. Awards are announced annually, at various times throughout the year, according to age-designated categories: Lower Elementary (grade levels K-2), Upper Elementary (grade levels 3-5), Middle School (grade levels 6-8), High School (grade levels 9-12), Undergraduate College, and Grad School/Yeshiva. They also include a Parent/Adult selection as well.

Yiddishkeit (ייִדישקייט) is a Yiddish (Ashkenazi) word meaning, literally, "Jewishness." In modern parlance, it has come to connote the Jewish way of life.[1]
