Information
[edit]A navbox to major and mid-sized video game publishers and digital distributors. Based on income derived, number of titles, reputation of titles, etc..
- Major publishers and distributors is based on http://www.newzoo.com/free/rankings/top-25-companies-by-game-revenues/ and http://mmos.com/news/superdatas-2015-stats-place-league-of-legends-and-clash-of-clans-at-the-top. Note that some companies listed, for example Apple Inc., Google, Facebook, derive their video gaming income mainly from digital distribution and platforms. COLOPL NI Inc and Machine Zone do not have articles.
- Mid-sized publishers and distributors are mainly derived from the larger and non-defunct publishers at List of video game publishers, Category:Video game publishers, http://www.businessinsider.com/9-biggest-mobile-game-developers-2013-12?IR=T and http://www.pocketgamer.biz/list/60889/pocketgamerbiz-top-50-developers-2015/entry/1/ .
- Note: subsidiary and defunct publishers are not listed. For example, Bethesda Softworks are not listed as they are a subsidiary of ZeniMax Media. And Square Enix Europe/Eidos Interactive are a subsidiary of Square Enix. Likewise the mobile giants GungHo Online Entertainment and Supercell are subsidiaries of SoftBank
- Developers who don't publish aren't listed. So Bungie, who publish through Activision Blizzard, aren't listed.
