About me

[edit]

I majored in music in college. I have a pretty wide range of interests throughout the liberal arts, such as history and writing. I was homeschooled from birth to high school graduation. (Okay, so it wasn't until I was five that my parents realized that's what they were doing, but it's still true.)

I have enough stress in real life, so I try to stay away from the craziest parts of Wikipedia. I also try not to make an edit unless I have a good reason, and I frequently cite the Manual of Style in my edit summaries to explain that reason to fellow editors. But if you have a disagreement with an edit I made, I would welcome your input on my talk page.

When I first signed up for Wikipedia, I thought I would only be editing once in a while, when I came across a typo or bad link. However, I quickly discovered that editing is addicting, and I now go hunting down things to edit. I keep an eye on several of my favorite novel series and their associated articles; particularly The Scarlet Pimpernel, Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, Margaret Peterson Haddix, Andrew Clements, and to a lesser extent The Lord of the Rings and the Vorkosigan Saga. My favorite fictional characters are Severus Snape, Edmund Pevensie, Simon Illyan, and Mara Jade—make of that what you will.

I have a particular predilection for dab pages, which drags itself to the surface now and then. When I was first here, I repaired a lot of links to disambiguation pages. I learned a lot about Tagetes and Calendula trying to figure out which marigold was intended in various contexts. (For example, Calendula is generally the marigold referenced in English folklore, while Tagetes is the only marigold the Aztecs knew.) Lately, if I'm working with dab pages I'm more likely to be fixing the formatting...only one blue link per entry, piping the main links is only okay if it's to italicize or add quotes, the usual.
