Tom Rogers was an advertising copywriter known for the creation of Charlie the Tuna.

Early life

Rogers was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up during the Great Depression in a single parent household and often stayed with his grandparents who lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba.[1]

Career

Rogers is credited with creating the original concept for Charlie the Tuna. At the time, he was employed by Leo Burnet who was hired by StarKist to create a new advertising campaign.[2]

In addition to Charlie the Tuna, Rogers was involved in the creation of campaigns that include the Keebler Elves and Morris the Cat.[1]


Personal life

Rogers died June 24, 2005 in Charlottesville, Virginia.[1]
