Expressing opinions on Wikipedia talk pages

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your intention to improve Wikipedia. Please note that talk pages are purely for the technical discussion of individual articles: they are not forums on general topics like religion or politics, and they must not be used for any kind of criticism of other editors, who are all volunteers. You must not allow your personal understanding or attitudes to colour any contribution you make to talk page discussions. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 20:34, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop attacking other editors, as you did on Talk:Paganism in Middle-earth. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:29, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Christianity in Middle-earth. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:36, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is extremely scary and frightening that you are threatening to block me for pointing out an anti-Catholic bias in several articles. 173.67.130.26 (talk) 14:40, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am in no sense dealing with "anti-Catholic bias", as there is none in the article. The issue is your conduct, which is both rude (on talk pages) and disruptive (attempting to force through changes without agreement, while talk page discussion is in progress. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:53, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary, as you did at Christianity in Middle-earth. Please stop deleting reliably-cited content from this article. That is vandalism. Discuss on the talk page, politely, until the matter is resolved, but leave the article alone. It is a gross breach of Wikipedia etiquette to attempt to edit-war a major change into an article when there is explicit disagreement and a discussion under way. Thanks. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:51, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am genuinely scared and frightened that you feel the need to threaten to block me. Especially when you've now gaslit me and attempted to keep a factual inaccuracy in an article despite being told multiple times that it's a factual inaccuracy. 173.67.130.26 (talk) 14:58, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You are entirely missing the point here, and repeating your unacceptable personal attacks, which are forbidden here: please read the policy, which is called WP:NPA. Wikipedia works entirely and only on written evidence (WP:RS), not on assertions by editors that something is the case. If you have evidence, quote and cite it properly on the talk page. Otherwise, stop. Thanks. Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:02, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are preventing me from correctly a clear and obvious factual inaccuracy in an article. I have presented the Athrabeth (which is an actual text that JRR Tolkien actually wrote) as evidence and you shot me down. 173.67.130.26 (talk) 15:12, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wrong again. I've demonstrated at Talk:Christianity in Middle-earth that you have (many times) attempted to reason beyond what is written, i.e. ORIGINAL RESEARCH, which is a core Wikipedia policy, nothing to do with my opinion. Tolkien wrote the Athrabeth, indeed: but he didn't mention Christ there, as you will find if you search for that word in that text. Once again, you must not go beyond the written evidence. This is not complicated. Chiswick Chap (talk) 16:43, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you remove or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia again, as you did at The Silmarillion, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:06, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
