[edit]Hello, I'm Girth Summit. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Stephen Girard Whipple, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! GirthSummit (blether) 00:19, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

- Apologies - I selected the wrong template there, Stephen Girard Whipple is not living or recently deceased. Nevertheless, the descriptors you used are not supported by the body of the text, or by any sources in the article, and so are entirely inappropriate for the article. I am not saying that articles cannot present critical commentary - it just needs to be sourced. If reliable sources describe him in the way that you have, then content could be added along the lines of 'Historian X describes him as a <insert appropriate descriptor>, while historian Y wrote that he was a <insert appropriate descriptor>'. I hope this is helpful. GirthSummit (blether) 00:24, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
