Information icon Hello, I'm Jamedeus. I noticed that you recently removed content from Portland Police Bureau without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. @Jamedeus Sorry but the content is false. It claims the Portland Police Association, formed in 1942 is the oldest police union in the US. If you'd bothered to look at your own entry for the Police Benevolent Association of City of NY, you'd see that it was formed in 1892. Please ask next time before you restore bad information after its been removed. 2600:8801:1223:EB00:D915:CEBF:A184:E833 (talk) 22:48, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First, nobody is going to ask before reverting when you remove an entire paragraph with the edit summary "fixed typo" (this exact pattern is used as an example in the vandalism policy). Please don't use misleading edit summaries like this.
Second, the article does not say it is the oldest union - it says it is the longest continuously operating union, which is supported by a reliable source. The NYC PBA article only says it was founded (as a fraternal organization, not a union) in 1892 - it does not say it has continuously operated since then, or when it switched from a fraternal organization to a union. Claiming that the sourced PPB claim is incorrect based on this is WP:SYNTH.
I restored this information again, feel free to start a discussion on the talk page if you still think it is incorrect. Jamedeus (talk) 23:27, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamedeus How stupid are you? Look at the Wiki page for the NYC PBA. Look at the date it was founded. Then look when the Portland PA was founded. Did you flunk arithmetic? The numbers are right there. Its not a discussion. Its simple math, you inane drone 2600:8801:1223:EB00:D915:CEBF:A184:E833 (talk) 00:03, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamedeus For your information the NYC PBA functioned as a union from the start. As early as 1901 (on the Wiki Page) it had negotiated benefits. You don't understand the concept of "fraternal org " within the NYPD. 2600:8801:1223:EB00:D915:CEBF:A184:E833 (talk) 00:06, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamedeus The NYC PBA changed its name a few times, but never its function as a union. NYPD has 5 recognized unions. PBA, DEA, SBA, LBA & DEA. PBA the oldest. I'm a member of all of them, as I advanced in rank over the years. Stop arguing from a point of ignorance 2600:8801:1223:EB00:D915:CEBF:A184:E833 (talk) 00:09, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamedeus Are you too thick-headed to admit you goofed? 2600:8801:1223:EB00:D915:CEBF:A184:E833 (talk) 00:10, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
