Improvement templates removal

[edit]

Hello,

Would you mind sharing the reasoning behind the removal of the citation needed and other templates from LoJack? It appears that the templates were mechanistically removed with the nearest sentences, leaving behind incoherent text in some cases. In others, problematic text was not removed completely, leaving it untagged without reason for removal the tag being communicated. PaulT2022 (talk) 06:01, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

i thought it was without citations so I removed it. 64.189.18.20 (talk) 06:12, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In Wikipedia, lack of citation itself in most cases isn't a sufficient reason to remove text. Article texts are required to be verifiable, but lack of citation isn't in itself a reason to delete text and the editing policy encourages editors to fix the problem instead.
I was the editor who added improvement templates to this article and I was very confused by your edits.
For example, you've removed a 'citation needed' template leaving It was installed in the vehicle and connected to the starting mechanism such that only the original key would start the vehicle. It could also include the incorporation of a scheme whereby an additional step was required to activate the ignition. Prior to starting, it would require the activation of any number of the usual vehicle features such as the radio, headlight switch, or other switched device. unreferenced. Do you think it's verifiable and doesn't require a citation? Why? How did you choose which sentence to remove from this unreferenced paragraph?
In another paragraph in 'Modern system' section Such information is also simultaneously sent to the vehicle owner’s computer or cell phone. sentence was left after a removed one. What information it refers to?
I understand you were trying to improve the article, but I just can't make sense of these edits and they leave the impression of removing sentences next to inline cleanup templates without reading the article text. PaulT2022 (talk) 07:53, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I thought there was no way to improve the text so I removed the text that required citations.I thought the citations required only refers tot eh sentence it is next to. My mistake. 64.189.18.20 (talk) 08:49, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Australians in the United Kingdom, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 09:57, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
