Isananni (talk) 06:17, 3 February 2017 (UTC) False positive, the section has simply been restructured, no content lost. Isananni (talk) 06:17, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

@Isananni: Not a false positive; in your edit you cite "<ref name="auto" />" as reference for the older Philip, but that reference is not defined. You fixed that yourself a few days later. Huon (talk) 19:47, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
@Huon: Actually, when I first got the comment, it linked to a page showing I had deleted all content while I was simply restructuring the section to make it a more enjoyable reading experience, matching the equivalent section in Hamilton's wife's page and it took a little while to convert formats etc. since I'm not overly expert in Wikipedia editing, even though I do know my stuff on the sections I contribute to. At any rate, I'm glad all problems have been sorted out now. Isananni (talk) 20:17, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

@Petig2: In your edit you spelled the name of the reference once "Magnon" and once "magnon"; reference names are case sensitive, even for the first letter. That was in 2014 and has long since been fixed. Huon (talk) 19:47, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

I double checked and this is how the page wants to be cited. (There is an actual citation at the end of the article.) I purposely cited an article that is available to anyone to see. I had my professor review this as well and he believes it is correct. Thank you for your time and effort! DG162704 (talk) 17:39, 13 February 2017 (UTC) Comment/question:

DG162704 (talk) 17:39, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

@DG162704: This is a purely technical error; when you give an URL, you need to start with "http://" (or "https://"). Dan Koehl fixed the issue. Huon (talk) 19:47, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

Dubious claims with no reliable source

Respected admin, on the Kannada page history section, there are many claims which has been included with no reliable source. Since wikipedia should not give any wrong information, please remove it. These claims cannot be taken as true so please remove it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saigovind95 (talkcontribs) 12:16, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

Saigovind95, if books published by Harvard University Press and Cambridge University Press aren't reliable enough for you, it's difficult to see what you would consider reliable. Some of those sources clearly were reliable by Wikipedia's standards. As one of the editors reverting you advised, discuss the issue on the article's talk page. Huon (talk) 00:08, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

huon Is this Harvard's article? :/ And read it fully, the article says "claims to be" so no actual proof. Again this one, the page was about kannada but the article is about Tamil. And there is no mention of the info in the article which has been pasted in the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saigovind95 (talkcontribs) 20:34, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Again, this should be discussed at the article's talk page, not at the talk page of the owner of a bot which notified you about a reference problem your edits caused. Huon (talk) 19:29, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

Comment/question:States that the ISSN number is incorrect for the source; however, source gives ISSN numberhttp://www.mainlib.uwi.tt/divisions/wi/collmain/oprepweb/oprep_jundec04.pdf as 1010-1531, as noted in the bibliography.

SusunW (talk) 03:57, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

@SusunW: That's interesting; while the paper undoubtedly claims ISIN 1010-1531, that number is not a valid ISIN. You can read up the checksum feature at ISIN and verify yourself that it's invalid, or use an online checker such as this one. Apparently the newsletter managed to get a typo into its own ISIN; the correct one is 1013-1531. Headbomb fixed the issue. Huon (talk) 01:53, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I've had this happen a couple of times, with an ISBN number or an ISIN number published incorrectly. I never know how to fix it, but someone usually comes along and helps. :) SusunW (talk) 01:56, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Bot maintainers wanted - source code needed

Hi! You asked in IRC for someone to take over your bots. I notice that each of them have this in their infobox: "Source code published? = If someone wants it, bug me to release it." -- Please do! (anywhere, onwiki/github/gerrit/etc). Ping me when done, and I'll file phab tasks in our upcoming "Maintainer needed" toolforge workboard, plus help advertise at WP:BOTN. Thanks! Quiddity (talk) 19:29, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

P.s. Someone who knows better than I, says that Defconbot's code needs a license added. Thanks again! Quiddity (talk) 22:53, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

Changes to BracketBot opt-out categories

In case you have not already been notified about the renaming of the opt-out categories, see Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2017_October_16#Category:Opted-out_of_message_delivery, please can you ensure the bot's functionality is updated? – Fayenatic London 21:24, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for helping maintain WP. On your user page you have links under Statistics section. Are these only for admin users? I get a 404 error (as I am not an admin I assume).John a s (talk) 14:26, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Hope everything is going well! I disabled the ReferenceBot crontab on Toolforge (formerly Tool Labs) since the bot hasn't edited since 2017. Just wanted to give you a heads up for whenever you do eventually return :-) Legoktm (talk) 21:53, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Hope you're doing well! I'm cleaning up some tools on Toolforge and archived the referencebot project since it's no longer running. It was a very cool project (same with BracketBot). Legoktm (talk) 06:54, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
