French Obstacle Races

[edit]

Zafonic I am in progress to complete the french obstacle races in galopp-sieger.de

Who is working on this project? If You want, I can spend some datas Bluecher (talk) 12:41, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Galopp-Sieger

[edit]

Hi Bluecher,

I have nothing against the galopp-sieger website – I couldn't have written the German race articles without it.

But when it comes to English races I can't find any facts on galopp-sieger which are not already covered by the existing references. Notice, for instance, on the Lockinge Stakes, how the information becomes less complete pre-1988 – the start year of the Racing Post database (which is fully referenced on the Lockinge Stakes article).

Everything before 1988 seems to have been taken from Pedigree Query (for example the missing 2nd & 3rd placed horses in 1982).

If galopp-sieger starts to supply some new information then it will be worth adding to the references.

Thanks, Zafonic (talk) 19:08, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zafonic,

thanks for your response. I think, there are a lot more informations than you can find in Pedigreequery. Since 1959, in Galopp-Sieger are the distances, the owner, trainer and rider is written, also the value of the race for a big number of the races. It is not complete, but it becomes nearly daily mor informations.

For example, take a look on the King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in Ascot. The complete history of this race ist documented, the first thre horses, the rider, trainer and owner of the winner, the value of the race and the distances. Much more informations, than PQ can give.

For a lot of years, for the english derby the value is remarked and so on. If you see the progeny tables (Stammtafeln), you see more than one generation of a stallion and you see direct the value of the horses wins. For example Zafonic

http://www.galopp-sieger.de/galoppsieger/stammtafel_html?startPferd=ZafonicGone%20West&suchePferd=Zafonic

PQ-Datas are only based datas for galopp-sieger. They were checked and ad by informations from old newspapers.

Your example of Lockinge Stakes. In 1981, 1979, 1978, 1977,1976, 1974, 1972 you see the complite result with distances, winners trainer, rider, owner and price to the winner.

At the end, I am sure, that Galopp-Siegers gives much more informations, than PQ gives.

Best regards v. Blucher

PS: how is it possible to open a private talk, yesterday, I have searched, but not found

Hi again Bluecher,

Perhaps I was bit quick to dismiss galopp-sieger. Please feel free to add references if you want to. Thanks (and sorry), Zafonic (talk) 18:30, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again,

doesn't matter. sometimes, a discussion solves all problems. I have written some articles in German Wiki about german horses. In the next days, I try to translate them in english.

Best regards v. Blucher

Hello Zafonic,

You hjave delete my information about the Mistakes in the Pedigreequery-datas in the Premio Mario Incisia. We had found a lot of errors in the italian races in the PQ data. Partially, we could eleminate the errors in communication with PQ but in a lot of cases, the still exist.

For example, In PQ is a son of Touchstone (Stallion in the Middle of the 18th Century) placed in the 1953 version of Premio Legnano in the age of 111 (YEP). The wimnner in this year raced 29 years before she was born. In the 1949 version, tghe winner raced 18 years before born, the second (Toffanella the mother of Tenerani) raced in the age of 19 and so on.

PQ is a good source for basic informations but with a lot of errors especial in the italian races. If you give me a mail adress, I can send you some screen shots with these errors.

For this, I think it is necessary to inform the users about the problems in an external source.

Best regards v. Blucher

Best

I inserted my reference on the line in question. I know nothing of the German-language www.galopp-Sieger.de. website but I consider Godolphin to be a very reliable source. Handicapper (talk) 14:16, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I cannot found a reference in question in this article. What do you mean? I insert some aditional informations that Federico Tesio was also a very successful trainer an also a reference with his big races. Galopp-Sieger's focus ist the european races not only the german races.

But what you want to say with the reference to Godolphin?? I cannot find any informations about Tesio there.

regards

Sorry, but it must be a language thing as I cannot understand what you are trying to say? Your original question was answered by me (above) in detail and as clear and precisely as possible. Handicapper (talk) 15:48, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

La Coupe

[edit]

Hi Bluecher, thanks for bringing this to my attention. The 1983 and 1985 times do seem a bit fast. I will try to find out why and let you know if I come up with anything. Zafonic (talk) 20:56, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I have check it again. It was only 1/10 sec slower then the record of Danedream in the Arc. The Problem is, that the french website has for the old races no time information
