People are already trying to change pronouns

[edit]

Hi Cassolotl,

I just have seen an editor change the writing in the article like this: I had written a sentence that started with Dillon's xxx_xx An editor changed it to It's Now to me, that is either vandalism or being disrespectful. I reverted the change. How do you feel about that Cassolotl ?

On another subject, the filmography table you did on Dillon looks perfect. I hope maybe you would consent to add such a table here. It would help to expand the article. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me on my talk page or vial the email user link on the right of my talk page. I do hope we can collaborate and work together on this article and others. Thanks. Antonioatrylia (talk) 17:01, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Antonioatrylia: In my opinion, if a person's pronouns are stated in the article with multiple references, any changes to that should be considered vandalism. I'm not experienced with that whole issue, but I do know that articles that are frequently subjected to malicious edits are locked down so that only trusted people can edit. If that's how it goes with Asia Kate Dillon I would be comfortable with it being locked down. I know that Melanie Gillman's article frequently has the pronouns removed, and people say that's okay because it's for clarity for unfamiliar readers, but to me that seems very disrespectful. (Edit: And changing a nonbinary person's pronouns to "it" when their actual pronouns are stated right there in the page, that's dehumanising and deliberate, no question.)
As for the filmography, I was planning to merge the contents of the two pages into the mainspace page once the history merge was complete, so feel free to copy it over - but if you want to wait until the history merge is done, the pages will get merged all in one go anyway! --Cassolotl (talk) pronouns: they/them 17:24, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No, I am really going to step back a bit on this article. Sure, wait for whatever you think someone will do. I will add references and copyedit mostly. But whenever it is time, you should add the table because it looks quite nicely done. If they are anymore changes that are disrespectful or vandalism, you or I should ask for the protection for sure. I am in and out on here. I will keep an eye on this one and the other one you mention. Thanks for following up with me. Antonioatrylia (talk) 19:48, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Antonioatrylia:Alright, I'll wait and see what the history merge people decide to do and then we can work it out from there. :) Thanks for checking with me! And if there's any more vandalism, I will... learn how to get a page protected from vandalism! XD --Cassolotl (talk) pronouns: they/them 19:55, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the re-additions of removed information you have made on Asia Kate Dillon. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Antonioatrylia (talk) 17:25, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
