In/on

[edit]

Hi. I've noticed in a couple recent grammar edits of yours[1], [2] that you have been changing the word on to the word in in reference to a date.

Generally it is in a month or year and on a day. For example: An event happened in September and An event happened on September 27. Never An event happened in September 27. Some of your other changes were to existing perfectly correct grammar and some even changed the meaning of the statement.

If this is not obvious to you, it suggests that maybe English is not your native language and therefore you should probably not be making grammar fixes on English Wikipedia. If you are interested improving the grammar on Wikipedia, there are 325 active Wikipedias in other languages. If one of those is your native language, then your contributions would be far more valuable there. Thank you and have a great rest of your day!:) --DB1729talk 22:34, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate your input because it has mended my approach to English language. Regardless of being native or non-native, writers sometimes make errors when it comes to using correct prepositions. I should have been more aware during my edits.
This whole Wikipedia grammar correction is a trying experience for me. I believe that the unity of writers here is brilliant. If one writer edits inappropriately, the other writer ensures that it does not repeat.
Again, I truly appreciate your valuable insights. I will be more careful in my future edits. I want to continue editing the English Wikipedia pages because they have already contributed so much to my learning.
I wish you a nice and productive day. :) Cinnodi (talk) 21:03, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just noticed your reply. Thank you for your consideration. Just a reminder that there are many, many ways to contribute to WP, other than correcting grammatical errors. Happy editing! DB1729talk 18:07, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
