Hello, I'm JalenFolf. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to List of complex and algebraic surfaces because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. I saw that you removed my updates from Wikipedia.
The link that I put on there is a freeware program that anyone can use
and plots mathematical surfaces and has several hundred example surfaces.
I am new editing Wikipedia and everyone is removing my edits.

Why did you remove all of my links?
The links were for a freeware program Surface Explorer 3D that anyone can use
and is appropriate for the topics.
You deleted them because you called them spamming and self-promotion.
The program is free and anyone can use and is appropriate to the topics.
I saw several other links with other programs also.
I think you accidentally removed all External Links (not just my link).
I am new to editing Wikipedia and everyone is deleting my edits.

It is because you are a new editor that I added the above template that provides many links that are useful for new users. It is for the same reason that I detailed below the reasons of my reverts. D.Lazard (talk) 21:14, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You added links to your software in several articles. This is forbidden in Wikipedia for several reasons. The mean one is that per the policy WP:NOR, every addition must be supported by a reliable secondary source. In your case where there are many software with similar functionalities, this means that there should be a published article, independant from the author(s) of the software, that describes the functionalities of the software and the algorithms used, and compare this with other similar softwares, in particular with those that are widely used. The second reason of the revert is that WP:Wikipedia is not a repository for new software. If your software would be accepted, there are thousands of similar software that should be added. This is not the role of an encyclopedia. A third reason is that you are the author of the software, and so, there is a conflict of interest that should prevent you to add these links yourself.

Also, you started an WP:edit war for trying to force the inclusion of your links. This is strictly forbidded in Wikipedia, and could lead you to be blocked for editing, per the WP:3RR rule, if you continue your edit war. The page WP:BRD describes what you must do when you disagree with a revert D.Lazard (talk) 19:17, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
