Welcome

[edit]

Hello, CycloneMan, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} and your question on your user talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

We hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Now that we got that out of the way (that is the standard welcome message), let's talk tropical cyclones :) As a new user, let's start with the basics. Will you be focusing mainly on Australian cyclone articles, or will you be working elsewhere? As you just began, starting small is the biggest step. Do you have any problem with the basic coding? It seems you have a good handle on it already, which is great.

I'll mention this now, as well. Members of the Tropical cyclone Wikiproject talk online via an Internet Relay Chat, which, if you don't know of it, is similar to a chat room but dedicated to one topic. If you're interested, there are usually members online, most of which fairly well experienced, in case you need some assistance. If you're interested, the basic link is ircatwork.com. Once you're there, enter your name (CycloneMan is good), enter irc.freenode.net as your server, and #wiki-hurricanes as your channel.

I look forward to seeing you around. Good luck, and have fun! --♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 04:17, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
