Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Mission San Francisco de Asís. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 17:47, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Mission San Juan Capistrano. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 17:47, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Mission La Purísima Concepción, you will be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 17:48, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you use Wikipedia for advertising, as you did with Mission Santa Barbara, you will be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 17:50, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Order Castles of the Third Reich.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 16:02, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:DAY 9 1DA CROP crop crop crop.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 20:23, 13 August 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:23, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Final Journey CoverOnly.pdf

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Final Journey CoverOnly.pdf. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:06, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

St. Catharines

[edit]

Hi there, I just noticed this edit[1] you made to the St. Catharines article. Just in case you don't already know this, I wanted to let you know that links to other wikipedia articles are not external links and shouldn't be added to that section of the article. The "External links" section is for linking sites outside of wikipedia. Links to other wikipedia articles are internal links, or more commonly known as wikilinks, and if added to the article as relevant additional info, can be placed in a "See also" section. Please note that I'm not being critical here, I know the edit was obviously made in good faith, and only wanted to let you know for further reference. Cmr08 (talk) 04:50, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Shannon & Company logo.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Shannon & Company logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions. If you have a question, place a {{helpme}} template, along with your question, beneath this message.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.

This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of YWCA Greater Los Angeles, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.ywcagla.org/about/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) VWBot (talk) 03:32, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on YWCA Greater Los Angeles, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Thebestofall007 (talk) 03:19, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns

[edit]

I see that back 3 years ago you were warned for writing in an overly promotional manner, and it seems that you have returned to this editing pattern. For example, I just had to cut out over half of what you added to YWCA Greater Los Angeles. Please review WP:NPOV. In addition, I am guessing that you may be working for these organizations, or have been hired for PR purposes. If that is the case, you need to read WP:COI. While editing for pay (or as an employee) is not forbidden, many many editors strongly dislike it and consider it to be a blockable offense. And those editors like myself who tolerate it still require all of our other policies, especially WP:NPOV and WP:OR to be followed. If you are unable to do so, you will be blocked from further editing. Qwyrxian (talk) 05:13, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You asked for help about this. First, there is no evidence of notability as an author, as the books are not even in worldcat and were presumably privately published. As a lawyer, we expect non-routine coverage in references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. This must be more than incidental local mentions because of particular cases he has been engaged in. In practice, it usually amounts to national level coverage or major =national level prizes. We've sometimes made exceptions for the President of a State. With respect to promotionalism , we usually regard paragraphs of descriptions of a little-known authors intentions, when not sourced to a published opinion of a well known critic, as promotional. DGG ( talk ) 03:25, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

DGG-Mr. Carson has several book on Amazon that in my opinion are creditable. Also, his success as attorney is notable. When creating the page I was careful not to make a promotional page for his practice or as an author. I would like your assistance and guidance in saving Charles L. Carson (Author). I am not sloppy in my contributions to Wikipedia so guidance is appreciated.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! LA to FA 2022

[edit]
LA to FA 2022

Dear Knightflyte,

You're invited to a zoom call, taking place on February 11, with the goal of improving the article on Los Angeles to Featured article status! I often find it daunting to approach the Big Subjects on my own—so if you, like me, want a time to sit down with fellow dedicated editors and tackle something important and complex, this is the zoom for you! I, unfortunately, have no way to transmit snacks over zoom; but I trust you to exercise good judgement and discretion in selecting snacks of your own. Hope to see you there—if you're interested, add your name here!
