Mediation Cabal: Request for participation

Dear LeadSongDog: Hello. This is just to let you know that you've been mentioned in the following request at the Mediation Cabal, which is a Wikipedia dispute resolution initiative that resolves disputes by informal mediation.

The request can be found at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/27 February 2012/Wikipedia:Verifiability.

Just so you know, it is entirely your choice whether or not you participate. If you wish to do so, and we'll see what we can do about getting this sorted out. At MedCab we aim to help all involved parties reach a solution and hope you will join in this effort.

If you have any questions relating to this or any other issue needing mediation, you can ask on the case talk page, the MedCab talk page, or you can ask the mediator, Mr. Stradivarius, at their talk page. MedcabBot (talk) 14:10, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Long time no howl!

Hiya! I've just read through your spiel at the MedCab page (WP:V). It seems we both want the same kind of things; policies which are so clearly and plainly worded that they are all-but-impossible to misinterpret. This is something that has been desperately needed for a very long time. It's nice to know I'm not alone in wanting this sort of improvement! Pesky (talk) 08:53, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, Pesky, but let's keep the discussion where it belongs. Cheers.LeadSongDog come howl! 16:22, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Hehe! No, I wasn't trying to get you into a discussion over here, jus' sayin'. But if you feel like playing in Ched's civility den over here, in another attempt to make the simple ... well, simple ... it would be nice to see you there. Pesky (talk) 19:40, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Question

Hi, why did you remove the category "Psychiatric diagnosis" from the article Huntington's disease? The article says in its first line, "Huntington's disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative genetic disorder that affects muscle coordination and leads to cognitive decline and psychiatric problems." Pinetalk 09:29, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Melatonin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Epidermal (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Reference on lung cancer

My edit summary was incomplete. The reference you reinserted[1] was not only not indexed on PubMed, but the editor who inserted it originally (95.177.28.36 (talk · contribs)) has been spamming references to journals from the same publisher in a number of other articles. I cannot imagine that there is no source covering the same information that is actually from a more reliable source. Would you mind discussing on Talk:Lung cancer if you disagree with me? JFW | T@lk 22:19, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

It seems that you've inferred that the IP is refspamming, simply because the refs are from a single publisher. That's a bit of a reach: often it simply reflects that xhe has convenient access to that publisher's journals without any COI (though perhaps an elevated risk of selection bias). We normally AGF in cases such as that and at least explain the issue to the editor. Using {{uw-spam}} doesn't help that much. A link to wp:REFSPAM might be appropriate. Of course, dynamic IP assignment always complicates communication with the editor, but it looks to me like xhe's at least trying to use review sources even if they aren't in the very best journals. I'd rather see that than the bald unreferenced statement. Why not just tag them with {{refimprove-inline}}? LeadSongDog come howl! 15:59, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Enoh's point, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ventricular (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

WP:V mediation straw poll

Hi LeadSongDog, I noticed that you commented in the straw poll, but didn't specify a number of drafts that you would like to see everyone work on. Does this mean that you have no strong opinion on the matter, or were you thinking of making a comment on this later on? Best — Mr. Stradivarius 16:10, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Actually I think its premature. We should have a better idea what we're trying to say before we start worrying about how to say it.LeadSongDog come howl! 16:24, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Air France Flight 447

Hello. For information, following our work on the Air France Flight 447 article, I have translated the article fr:Paul-Louis Arslanian. You can find it at : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Paul-Louis_Arslanian. Regards. 78.239.175.7 (talk) 15:55, 25 March 2012 (UTC))

Thank you. I'm not sure what the reviewer was troubled with, so I've inquired on his talkpage.LeadSongDog come howl! 17:40, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

WP:V mediation compromise drafts

Hello LeadSongDog, this is just to let you know that to help find compromise drafts at the verifiability mediation, I would like each mediation participant to submit at least one draft at one work group that includes the best of all the previously submitted drafts of that work group. This will probably make more sense if you look at this section on the mediation page, but if anything is still unclear, just let me know. Best regards — Mr. Stradivarius 17:35, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
