I couldn't report a false positive, but I collapsed this warning. signed, Willondon (talk) 14:46, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What is the point of getting me to edit poor writing and then having a bot correct it? I have four masters degrees and a PhD. Either leave my edits alone or do not waste my time getting me to edit.
Please. 80.192.231.252 (talk) 14:56, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Are you talking to me, or the bot? I didn't touch any of your edits. Out of curiosity, what are the degrees in? signed, Willondon (talk) 15:40, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not too sure! I'm a new editor. I was just astonished that I had a message about some bot changing my edits?
I have two undergrads: Law and Classics, Masters: MSc MA MEd MPhil and a PhD.
The edits were pretty minor but I read the articles suggested to me with care before the changes. I suspect I might just leave the idea of editing on Wiki, if this is any kind of regular thing! 80.192.231.252 (talk) 17:25, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I hope this doesn't deter you from further contributing your improvements. I can assure you, it is a rare thing for ClueBot to make a mistake in identifying vandalism; and it's rarer still to have that happen on a new editor's very first foray. My years editing here have been quite an education in how ever evolving guidelines, policies and rules intersect with the crowd-sourced community that implements them. Having studied Law and Classics, you might find the experience equally rewarding. My overall summary of the project: "Wikipedia is made of scholars, gnomes, experts and vandals, and administrators treading like Socrates in sandals. This creaky machine of jerry-rigged parts and chaotic schematics triumphs nevertheless in fits and starts. As long as we're all having fun..."
Two notes of advice: (1) don't take things personally, (2) resolve conflict where possible by addressing edits, not the editors. Three notes of advice! (3) know that help is always available from me, from myriad others here, and from the "Teahouse". I hope you accept my welcome as a substitute for the original bot-generated one, and that you are convinced to continue here as your interest guides you. Cheers. signed, Willondon (talk) 18:10, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's a kind and encouraging reply. Thank you! 80.192.231.252 (talk) 22:12, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
