Hi Mbuell72,

I removed the KVM section because I thought it was a lengthy how-to section, which did not fit with Wikipedia policy. It also only had relevance to a particular technical problem between VGA and KVM switches, and was therefore IMO inappropriate in an encyclopaedia entry on VGA connectors (which should restrict itself IMO to the technical characteristics and usage of VGA connectors).

I think the 'Disabling DCC' section is also wrong. However I left it as it is much shorter, and is written much less in the style of a 'how-to' - it is not simply a commentary by one person on how to do something, step by step. Instead it is describing a common problem and (briefly) describes commonly used solutions without excessive detail. Possibly it would be better if this section was rewritten to describe the use of all pins in the same context. The problems with pin 12 could then be mentioned briefly.

I don't think that Wikipedia is the place to find help and support with a specific computing problem - it should contain computing theory and some technical reference but not guides to solve problems.

So to conclude - you are right, they should both be removed, but I only removed IMO the worst offender in the hope that the first section (which IMO contains some relevant information) might be rewritten by someone else.

Hope this helps, GBM (talk) 11:30, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contribution. I reverted you because your copy/paste messed up the format, and created a duplication. I think a further reduction in the intro is warranted, but right now, our intro perfectly reflects the article in terms of proportional representation.

I had put up the tag there myself and then worked on improving the introduction. It was a mess before and now it's a lot better. I'm afraid the issue of duplication is still there with your edit, as well as the fact it doesn't represent the article any more when you remove its origins, etc.
Any improvements need not be as radical as you have done. The intro looks mostly fine for now.

Also, the tag has now been removed. Thanks for attempting to help. There are many articles around here that could use your help~
