Forgotten Realms characters

Hey, Mikeblas. Just a note; instead of prodding and then AfDing so many Forgotten Realms characters all at once, it may have been more productive (and appeared less antagonistic) to start a discussion somewhere else (for example Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Forgotten Realms or Talk:Forgotten Realms), especially since you've lumped characters who have been major protagonists in multiple novels in with minor supporting characters that have made only single appearances. I haven't lumped the characters together; each one has it's own AfD page. Each discussion can reflect on the merits of each character. -- Mikeblas 04:44, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
What I meant was that it might have been more productive to start with the less notable characters and work up from there, rather than nominating what appears to be a fairly random cross-section of characters. Better still would have been to work with the WikiProject to establish inclusion guidelines ahead of time. Powers T 21:24, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

fact tags on 74181

Hi. I'm trying to figure out this edit of yours. You inserted two {{fact}} tags. The first one asks for a citation supporting the claim that VAX is the most popular 32 bit superminicomputer of all time. Fair enough; that's an assertion which needs to be backed up. But, are you also asking for a reference to support the claim that the VAX was built by Digital Equipment Corporation??? -- RoySmith (talk) 21:07, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I used two fact tags because there were two un-cited assertions: one that the VAX was the most popular minicomputer, and another that the VAX used the 74181. -- Mikeblas 00:56, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

74181 Cinemetronics Vectorbeam ref

I don't know if I will be able to find a source for this other than the fact that I used to own a Cinemetronics 'Space Wars' arcade game and schematics, and can state as a fact that it actually did have three 74181's on the main board. However, I realize that my first hand knowledge doesn't count for anything on WP.

A question. I probably threw the thing away after the big tornado in 2003, but I saved a few things If I could find the main board out of the Cinemetronics Space Wars game or the schematics, and if I took a photo or scanned it, showing the 74181 chips, would that be acceptable as an primary source, or would it be considered WP:OR? I'm asking you because you're the one who added the tag, if I satisfy you the tag can go away. 74s181 13:41, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

25LS is AMD's version of the part, which fit in their 2500 and 29000 series lines (if I have the right number of zeroes). -- Mikeblas 16:58, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

74 indicates commercial temp range, I think 54 indicates MILSPEC, and I think you are correct, 25 is another similar kind of designator, might indicate a logic family other than TTL, but more likely is a unigue identifier for AMD. However, if it is hooked to a '74' 182 it has to be TTL-compatible, and it has to work like a 74181. I'm pretty sure that the board I had contains a 74181. 74s181 15:42, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
I found something that says the AM25LS181PC is a 4 bit ALU, 24 pin DIP, capable of 16 arithmetic and logical operations. Not conclusive, doesn't show a pinout or indicate that it is a replacement for the 74LS181. Here is a German website that says the Cinematronics / Vectorbeam games used three 74LS181's, but probably doesn't count as WP:RS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74s181 (talk • contribs) 04:31, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Between the scanned schematic and the German web site, that's a lot better source than 99% of the stuff on wikipedia. It certainly meets my standard of reliable. -- RoySmith (talk) 15:13, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

While I emphatically disagree on the coverage of frivolous subjects having a damaging effect on that of academic subjects or on the encyclopedia, it's good to see that all editors are bound together at least by their common enemy. I have endorsed your proposed deletion of the stub Sword of Kas on the grounds that it has no real-world content, context or reliable secondary sources to demonstrate notability.
