Ripponlea

[edit]

Hi, What are the official boundaries of Ripponlea? I question whether or not the Top Shop on the corner of Glen Eira Road and Hotham Street are part of Ripponlea? If so, would streets like Attley, Bailey, Myrtle, Acacia and Gordon also be in Ripponlea? If not (I think that is the answer), then places like Caulfield Grammar and the Top Shop, Attley, Bailey and Myrtle Streets would be in East St Kilda, whereas Solomon's Kosher Butchers, BBE Mechanics, Gordon and Acacia Streets would be in Elsternwick. Because Ripponlea Primary School on Carrington Grove is definitely in East St Kilda. Also, Ripponlea would have two postcodes: 3183 above Glen Eira Road and 3185 below Glen Eira Road. Because Oak St is in Ripponlea and its postcode is 3183. St Petersburg Restaurant is in Ripponlea and is 3183. 02:08, 3 June 2007 (UTC)~

Help needed

[edit]

I have started a Portal:The_Three_Worlds_Cycle and need some of your advice on how to fix a few things. Seems to be a few incorrectly named links that i am unsure how to fix such as Fate_of_the_Children which should be The Fate of the Children and also Old_human should be Old Humans. Is there anyway to fix these easily or do you need to make a new article to correct title ? Another thing is how can i get rid of the extra 'The' on the Portal title as it comes up The The Three Worlds Cycle Portal (the series is called 'The Three World Cycle') but seems the extra 'The' happens by the way the Portal title is designed, so not sure what to do. Actually maybe better to rename the Portal as Three Worlds for fixing the problem, even tho the Author calls it 'The Three World Cycle'Boylo 04:50, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok pretty much sorted that out now. Only thing left is Category:The Three Worlds cycle should be Category:The Three Worlds Cycle. But not sure how to adjust that.Boylo 07:08, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wow! thankyou so much for doing this! Aliasd 02:09, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Orderinchaos. Since you voted delete as the article 'clearly failed WP:CORP', I have managed to dig up five or six reliable sources and print mentions - you might like to reconsider your vote? If it still doesn't meet WP:CORP in your eyes, please explain why not. Thanks! Neil  09:04, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also the AFD on Connect Financial - now has a bunch of references to satisfy WP:CORP. Thanks again. Neil  09:53, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

I am more interested in economics than Western Australia, but i aim to mostly be involved in performing quite repetative tasks that no-one wants to do (in their right mind). Stuff like tagging talk pages with all the relevant WP Australia tags etc. I dont really intend on doing much mainspace editing apart from the odd spelling and grammar stuff. AfD's look like the place to be - ill give that a go. I usually dont get much time, so i will prob be editing in small doses here and there. So any major repetative tasks u want done, just message me. cheers for the welcome. Savin Me 10:09, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am having trouble fixing my signature (as you can see on the GSV debated - in the list of Aust Deletions) - can you help? cheers. [[User talk:Savin Me|Savin Me]] 05:25, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You previously indicated an interest in this at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals. I've started up a new page but it needs lots of work. Come on over and join up. Regards. —Moondyne 18:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Get some sleep...

[edit]

OK, you're editing the train crash article this early? I've got an excuse with my data card, laptop, and a long train journey. You on the other hand got stuff all sleep if your contribs are to be believed. Just cleaned up a redundant reference in the article which no longer existed, which because the tag wasn't correctly closed his some others. Thewinchester (talk) 23:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mornington Peninsula

[edit]

This definition is not followed by the Mornington Peninsula Shire, which considers itself to be outside of metropolitain Melbourne. Changes made as definitions were ridiculous, parts of the peninsula that are relatively subarbanised and nearer to Melbourne were described as town in Victoria, whereas others that are little other than farmland and located considerably further from Melbourne were described as suburbs thereof. Even if the A.B.S. declares these places as suburbs of Melbourne for statistical purposes, some other authorities do not and I think common sense would follow the latter interpretation. How can somewhere like Mooroduc, which is just farm land and does not have anything that even resembles a small town let alone a suburb, be described in such a way. In the case of places located further down the peninsula, they are further away from the C.B.D. than Geelong or Ballarat. I truly think that it would be better to follow a more logical interpretation.

Hi! It seems that this user you blocked before uses the IP 202.124.103.146 to vote again at Talk:Romani_people#Vote_on_Racial_History. Is there a possibility to verify, to prove if this is one of the IPs used by this user? By asking a bureaucrat? Since is breaching the block and also is voting more times. Re: Finally...

[1] - let me know any you think I should upload, and roughly speaking what name. Most of them (5297-5303) are taken on the grounds at ECU Joondalup. Also got the Wabling Hill mallee article from Battye couple of days ago, been totally swamped elsewhere though so will have a go at it at the weekend. Orderinchaos 21:17, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • 5303 is a Grevillea.
  • I'm 80% sure 5302 and 5301 are Banksia prionotes in late flower, and 5300 is the same in early flower.
  • 5299 is Banksia menziesii, and 5298 is a small inflorescence of B. menziesii in early bud. (You nearly got me on 5298 - it looks a bit like B. coccinea)

Sydney Newspaper Undeletion Request

[edit]

On the 20th of May, you deleted the Northern District Times article. I have several references linked to this paper, as it is helpful for local news issues in the North West area of Sydney. This is a notable local paper in Sydney, and I would like the article undeleted or userfied please. The fact you didn't put these through AFD is really disappointing, let alone the fact that you didn't even consult anyone who comes from Sydney (I've checked your edits to make sure)- if you wanted sources they could have been provided, but you didn't even ask. I expect better from you as a moderator. I'm going to leave a message at AWNB on this - the mass deletion is not good and should be addressed. JRG 00:46, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What I don't like is the fact that you assert that it's automatically not notable and just delete it straight off. You don't live in Sydney and probably have no idea about the notability. Some of those papers aren't notable, but there are a few with quite large readership which are very well known in Sydney like the North Shore Times, Manly Daily, Inner-West Weekly, Northern District Times, and a few others. I understand that you have the right to do that because the article had no sources, which is fair enough, I don't think it's good protocol to just go ahead and delete the articles on your own opinion without at least asking WikiProject Sydney people what they think first; and as a moderator I think you should know better than that. JRG 01:59, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't be rude to me. It doesn't matter whether you are well-travelled or not - all I am asking for is some consultation, which hasn't happened in this case. By all means delete spam and pure advertising articles, but as I was probably one of the only editors on that article, the least you could have done was ask me or put it on an AfD. That's all I'm asking for, consultation. JRG 02:10, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok - fair enough, I take your point about backlog; and sorry for suggesting that you were being rude. I won't be putting up a notice on AWNB now. JRG 02:26, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I still think Thewinchester is being very uncivil in nominating so soon after I created the article. The fact that he did so with no request, or anything to me, nor even looking to see that I was the only editor, I take personally as that in some way he doesn't like my editing. I hope you can see my point in some way or other, even if I am taking it too personally. My aim was to provide a sourced article on the newspaper; and I was looking for some more sources - it's very hard to narrow down Factiva searches to searches *about* newspapers, as it includes all the articles by the newspaper which can't count as reliable sources; when this gets deleted I'll have to start from scratch again. This is the thing I often hate about Wikipedia - everyone wants to do their own thing and never want to discuss things before going ahead and doing them. It's not fair. JRG 05:57, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not going to take any further part in the AfD debate. Thank you for your help this morning, but attitudes towards me have turned me off editing WP for a while. It seems every now and again I get treated badly, and I'm really sick of it. I hope you can understand. JRG 06:13, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No worries - I do look forward to seeing you around again soon - I have a lot of respect for you as an editor, even if we occasionally disagree. Orderinchaos 06:22, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I appreciate it. I'll be back in a while. JRG 06:39, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re grouping em together

All of that energy expended - which is why if anyone tries that on Pilbara newspapers they have a dogs... SatuSuro 06:17, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Which Is what I thought I saw you try at the end of the afd - I wouldnt have a hope with the pilbara ones if they tried to stand alone - as it is there is still a lot of work on that stub - I really think thats actually a wp australia wide issue that might go to the noticeboard regarding regional groups of newspapers of otherwsise very vulnerable stubs - watch think? Hi Orderinchaos, do you think it would be appropriate for me to add " {{subst:prod|Not notable enough to have sufficient neutral references from which to source information to make an article, suggest moving current content to another wiki (eg. Hi OIC, Cheers for the personalised comments - but it still amazes me that otherwise "anonymous" editors take the time to place !votes and comments on RfAs. Whilst I would have normally thanked you at the time of you leaving your message, the importance of my not appearing to be canvassing prevented me from so doing. Now that everything has progressed successfully I can finally thank you. I intend to uphold a style of good adminship and will welcome your further comments at any time in the future, even if they are in the form of admonishment.
