Continuing on from the XfD

[edit]

Since the XfD of Suzana Zafar is getting cluttered with comments about WP:RS, I thought we should continue talk about the RS here, and keep the XfD for comments about the deletion of the article. [Username Needed] 12:38, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Username, What do you think now? Can I prove about the point which was asked by Saqib? - Rafi (talk) 15:44, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know, but if you are unsure about the reliability of a source, you should check out the WP:RSN archives, and if it is not there, post a new WP:RSN message. The number of sources is not necessarily relevant if the source is not reliable. And if it is deleted, don't leave just because you are upset. [Username Needed] 10:19, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, Thank you for your cooperation.- Rafi (talk) 10:56, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear, the answer of your first question is, yes, it is a dynasty. And the answer of your second question is, I have added a reference. I couldn't find out their last year of ruling period. Thank you! - Rafi Bin Tofa (talk) 04:10, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Citizens for Good Governance (SHUJAN), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mohammadpur (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Company infobox cleanup: traded_as

[edit]

If you're still seeking cleanup tasks, there's one involving the infoboxes of companies. For each public company in Bangladesh, if it is traded on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, then in its infobox, immediately below the type field, the traded_as field should be set using template {{Dse}}. (Many companies also trade on the Chittagong Stock Exchange, but Wikipedia's link to it is broken, so don't add links to that exchange.) Jamuna Bank is an example of a company article that uses {{Dse}} correctly.

List of companies of Bangladesh would be a good starting point. There may be companies that are not on that list, you could find them through the category system. Many companies are private or government owned, and so do not trade on a stock exchange. Be careful with similarly named companies. Sometimes subsidiaries are public even though their parent company and sister companies are private.

If you wish, while working through the companies you could look for other ways in which articles are not following Template:Infobox company/doc. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:47, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Worldbruce:, Firstly, many many thanks to you for giving a wonderful job that i was looking for. I got all the point that you written. But i have just a one question. How can i know which stock exchange a company traded? Should i look it at the article or should i search for the information in the internet?- Rafi (talk) 17:02, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The Dhaka Stock Exchange has this list of companies that are traded on it. It may include some companies that are not notable, and thus won't have articles in Wikipedia. --Worldbruce (talk) 17:12, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for answering my questions. I will try my best on this work. And again, thank you.- Rafi (talk) 17:19, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Worldbruce:, Take a look at the Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd article. This is my first attempt about these clean up works. Let me know if I do any wrong.- Rafi (talk) 18:49, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Subhasree Ganguly image.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Suzana Zafar

[edit]

Hello Rafi Bin Tofa,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Suzana Zafar for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

SamHolt6 (talk) 05:29, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@SamHolt6: I have just created the article few seconds ago and haven't finished it. So please let me give some time to add more sources and finish the article.- Rafi (talk) 05:32, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I will move the article to the draftspace. Keep in mind that new articles must be ready to pass Wikipedia's various criteria when they are created outright.--SamHolt6 (talk) 05:39, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@SamHolt6: I am still working on it. Please let me finish first! And anyone need at least 20 or 30 minutes to create an article. You tagged within 1 or 2 minutes. This is not fair. And now you moved it.- Rafi (talk) 05:43, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I highly recommend that you create articles in either the draftspace or in your sandbox rather than directly create an article in the mainspace. This is of course my personal preference, but note that adopting such a strategy will allow you to edit without interruption. Note also the before you create an article in the mainspace you are directed to Wikipedia:Your first article and other tips. Apologies for any inconveniences.--SamHolt6 (talk) 05:51, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay i got it. Thank you for your cooperation. Also pardon me for any weird behaviour. - Rafi (talk) 05:54, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article DBC News has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of any notability. No independent sources. Fails WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  Velella  Velella Talk   21:34, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open

[edit]

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Replaceable fair use File:Mohsin Monument.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mohsin Monument.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. King of ♥ 15:47, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Siddheswari College has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Can't find enough in-depth coverage to show it meets WP:GNG.

Rafi Bin Tofa (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 192.168.1.10. Now I will use wikipedia without using any proxy server. Rafi (talk) 07:50, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

That is the IP of your personal network and not the one you actually connect to the internet with. You can use a tool like whatismyip dot com or possibly Google "what is my ip" to determine what your IP actually is. We need to know this in order to help you. 331dot (talk) 08:15, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@331dot: According to the site, whatismyip, my ipv4 ip address is showing 144.48.116.183. Now What should I do? Can you please help? --Rafi (talk) 08:21, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If that is your IP, it is not blocked. If you are no longer using a proxy server, you may need to clear your browser cache and wait 24 hours for the block to clear your system. 331dot (talk) 08:26, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: I cleared my browser cache and waited for 24 hours. Nothing happened. Still I am blocked. Now, what should I do? --Rafi (talk) 13:49, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The IP that you give is not blocked, there should be nothing preventing you from editing. If you are still unable to edit, please copy and paste the exact message that you see when you attempt to make an edit. 331dot (talk) 15:26, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot:

It says,

The IP address or range 144.48.116.177 has been blocked (disabled) by ‪ST47ProxyBot‬ for the following reason(s):

Banned proxys.svgThe IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be used by a peer-to-peer proxy service. These services allow users to change their IP address by proxying their browsing traffic through another user's computer. As with any open or anonymizing proxy or VPN service, these IPs may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.--Rafi (talk) 17:11, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

144.48.116.177 is blocked as a P2P proxy. If you have done as I described and that didn't help, there's not much more we can do for you. If your IP changes often, you may land on one that works. You can also contact a checkuser as described at WP:IPECPROXY to request an IP block exemption. 331dot (talk) 17:22, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
