Wikilinking

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

(This even applies to infoboxes.)

Thanks, and my best wishes.

Tony (talk) 08:23, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Tony,

Thank you for letting me know.

This is my first article and I'm probably a bit too worried about doing something wrong.

It's a bit disorientating. I keep looking for things that aren't here... like the 'reply' and 'send' buttons.

Hopefully, I'm replying to your comment in the right place. If not, then please accept my apologies.

I'll meet-up with my partner Ritchie333 before I change anything on the article.

I'm still driving on my Wiki-Learners-Permit, so I don't dare drive through Wiki-cyber-space alone yet.

Thank you for the feedback. I will ask him about it. Rhondamerrick (talk) 08:53, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have dropped a note on Tony's page. I understand what he's doing now, but it took me a short while to wrap my head around it. Bottom line is that I find discussing issues relating to the manual of style about as exciting as watching grass grow, but fortunately there are people around who don't and can fix these things so I don't have to worry about them! Hi. We're into the last five days of the Women in Red World Contest. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!

I didn't submit anything. I started a draft about Sophia Ananiadou, but didn't get back to it as things have been very busy at work. Not sure why it was put up for deletion. She's a pioneer in text-mining and is responsible for saving the lives of countless people by making it possible for the complex journal entries of thousands of doctors and researchers, from the distant past to the present, to be amalgamated in a way that can identify previously unseen risk factors and effective treatments of potentially fatal diseases. I was surprised to find someone deleted my draft. ~~

The draft was not deleted. According to the deletion log, an article in the same space was deleted in 2015. I was the user who rejected the draft, because I believe the draft is not properly sourced, and I believe the notability is questionable. I am no sysop rights, and I only noted that the page was speedily deleted in the past. It was merely a note, and it was not a reason for rejecting the draft. Confusion over this issue has caused a number of misunderstandings that have since escalated to threats, which is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. It is my hope that the misunderstandings will cease, forthwith. Kiteinthewind Leave a message! 22:39, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Kiteinthewind: I've just had Rhonda complain about this for half an hour at me about deleting a draft completely out of process. Go and read WP:PROF immediately and undo this. I also note your talk page is full of unanswered questions about drafts from new users, if you can't communicate probably, you should be topic banned from the process. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:32, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This should be an easy accept..I would've done it without a second thought. kiteinthewind doesn't seem to have replied so I've accepted it myself. Galobtter (pingó mió) 04:43, 15 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
