Karate

[edit]

Hello, Sayrikey The King! I am Neonorange. I reviewed your recent edit to Karate. Thank you very much for finding a citation for this article. Citations can be tricky and hard work. Unfortunately the content you cited is itself cited to Wikipedia, your source can not be cited as Wikipedia is not a reliable source. It can not be used to verify content. The citation is like a snake swallowing itself—where does the snake begin?

As a very new editor, perhaps you should delay adding missing citations. I know it can be disappointing to have edits reverted. I hope you will continue to edit here and be rewarded with great pleasure. — Neonorange (talk to Phil) (he, they) 05:25, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mirrors

[edit]

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Telugu language. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Sam Kuru (talk) 11:44, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Again, here you added yet another very clearly identified Wikipedia mirror as a source. As noted at the bottom of the page: "Kiddle encyclopedia articles are based on selected content and facts from Wikipedia, edited or rewritten for children.". Same obvious problem here. This one literally starts with "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". Additionally, here you've added a self-published book, which is typically not acceptable as a reliable source. More importantly, the entire work is blatantly copied from our Wikipedia articles. Same problem here and here. Please slow down and carefully evaluate the sources you are adding - make sure they meet WP:RS. I know you're working some kind of 'contest', but this does not exempt you from our policies, and you're taking time away from other volunteers who are forced to clean up after your edits. Sam Kuru (talk) 11:25, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much.I would take note next time. Sayrikey The King (talk) 17:44, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alas, you seem to be doing the opposite. Since this very clear warning, you've added more mirrors here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here. Most of these are so clearly marked as mirrors, that you would have to be deliberately adding them. I've disabled this account until you can provide a more competent plan for evaluating your sources. Sam Kuru (talk) 03:02, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not deliberately and I have stopped editing after getting the warnings.I have taken a break since yesterday when I got the warnings. Now I'm trying to understand how to cite properly.I'm sorry for the inconveniences.Thank you. Sayrikey The King (talk) 06:27, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Citation errors in sourcing

[edit]

Hello, I wanted you to know that I reverted the citation you added to the article Minimalism. It wasn't a citation to a reliable source, which is a requirement for the encyclopedia. The source you added was to a study guide on Course Hero, which was copied directly from Wikipedia itself (as it says at the top of the Course Hero page). Study guides are not reliable sources, books, newspapers, magazines and academic journals are. I realize you are a newer editor and may not know this. You can learn more about reliable sources here: WP:RS. If you have a question in the future, please ask at the teahouse WP:TEAHOUSE. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 18:54, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look at some of your other citations (it looks like you are adding quite a few recently). The citation you added to Guadeloupe as also a poor-quality source. It pointed to a real estate sales and rental company - Century 21. Please follow the advice above and learn what constitutes reliable sources for the Wikipedia encyclopedia. Normally commercial websites like this are not reliable sources. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 19:01, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This one too - Arlington Heights, Illinois the source you added presents a security issue. Netherzone (talk) 19:06, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding citations until you learn what reliable sources are. I'll be reverting additional sources you added such as the one to End zone sourced to "Stories Pre-School". User-submitted content or social media are also not reliable sources. Use books, magazines, newspapers or academic journals for sources moving forward. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 19:14, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

June 2024

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Meiosis, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Plantsurfer 18:12, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, you may be blocked from editing. Please STOP adding inappropriate, low-quality or circular citations to articles. In case you have not noticed, 30 of your 45 total edits have been reverted because of sourcing problems. This is not acceptable, nor is ignoring the multiple warnings on your talk page. What is your purpose here? Netherzone (talk) 20:29, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was blocked for repeatedly citing mirrored or unreliable sources during the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria - LASU Fan-Club 1Lib1Ref competition. I now fully understand the impact of my actions, as they contribute to misinformation and create more work for other editors. I apologize for this mistake and I am committed to improving my contributions. Moving forward, I will ensure that I use only reliable sources, such as Britannica, and adhere to Wikipedia's sourcing guidelines. I respectfully request that my block be lifted, and I promise to cite responsibly from now on.

Accept reason:

Per below; user agrees to avoid sourcing until there is a competency in that task. Sam Kuru (talk) 12:19, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is your 'contest' over, and what methods will you be using to determine reliable sourcing? Would you agree to try some other editing that adding sources? Sam Kuru (talk) 11:04, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the feedback.
Yes,the contest is over.
I will ensure to gather information from credible and independent sources within my country , such as reputable newspapers and institutions.
I will also take care to thoroughly go through the content of any material I cite.
I would not be adding citations to existing articles before I have completely mastered the proper way to do it.
I agree to editing and trying out other things aside adding sources for example, creating articles from scratch and contributing to other wiki projects. Sayrikey The King (talk) 10:57, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
