Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Danny Jacobs (actor), without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 03:16, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! – Broccoli & Coffee (Oh hai) 00:05, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, TrueLegend23, and welcome to Wikipedia. You recently made 57 edits in a row to the article Malapropism over the course of about half an hour. While that is not against any rule or any policy that I know of, editing more than 50 times in a row can cause problems for certain Wikipedia:Gadgets such as WP:Twinkle. You may find it useful to use the "preview" button below the edit box to view your changes before you save, and make additional changes all in one go.

Also, it can be very helpful to other editors if you leave an edit summary, briefly explaining what you changed.

More importantly, I wanted to call your attention to a norm for editing called the WP:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle. It is expected and good to make bold changes to improve an article. If another editor disagrees with those changes, however, they may revert to the earlier content. When that happens, both editors can discuss the changes on the article's talk page in order to reach consensus about the best content for the article. Again, there is no rule saying that you must do this, but it is considered best practice. (In addition, there is a policy against WP:Edit warring, reverting an article repeatedly to one's own preferred content.)

Happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 05:44, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Danny Jacobs (actor), without resolving the problem that the template refers to. This may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. —C.Fred (talk) 22:27, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

GMAC

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your edit to the disambiguation page GMAC. However, please note that disambiguation pages are not articles; rather, they are meant to help readers find a specific article quickly and easily. From the disambiguation dos and don'ts, you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry
    • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references

Information icon Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Toy Story 4. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. WP:OVERLINKING - don't link common words that every English language speaker knows the meaning of and don't bypass valid working redirects per WP:NOTBROKEN Geraldo Perez (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The "show preview" button is right next to the "publish changes" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Zinnober9 (talk) 03:39, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
