Hi!

[edit]

I'm Tuleytula from Turkish Wikipedia. I saw you edited the Flag of Tatarstan in Commons. Your edititon note is: "simplified version PD". What does that mean? I must tell you I'm new at picture formats. Thank you.. (By the way, I think you should store your old messages in an archive, however it seems you preferred not to do it ever).--Tuleytula (talk) 12:57, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It means that I simplified the code which generates the flag (you'll notice that the filesize went down from 1 KB to less than 300 B), and that the new file is still PD, that is, in the public domain. If you have any more doubts, please ask again.
As for archiving my messages, yes, I know I should do it as soon as possible (I already did it once), but I've been busy lately so I haven't done it. --Fibonacci (talk) 22:17, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the word "Artsakh"

[edit]

Dear Tuleytula.

The trasliteration of Armenian "Արցախ" as "Artsakh" is absolutely correct and is the same for both Eastern and Western Armenian standard languages. Armenian "ց" is a voiceless alveolar affricate and is pronounced "ts" - IPA ligature "ʦ" (Voiceless alveolar affricate). Do not mix with "ձ", which is "ʣ" (Voiced alveolar affricate). In contrary, "s" is a Voiceless alveolar fricative similar to Turkish "s". Turkish has no affricates and probably this is the reason you mix this two consonants.

Best Regards,
