Hi Twofingered Typist,

When you are avaliable, could you re-copyedit the article linked? I asked someone to take a look, and they said it was stilted and had repetitive phrases. -- 1989 23:28, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @1989: I've run through the article again and made some changes - a few I perhaps missed the first time through, and some issues that were definitely introduced after my initial copy edit. I have to say that the tone seems right to me for an encyclopedic article - I certainly wouldn't say it is "stilted". I failed to find incidents of "repetitive phrases". Perhaps the individual who looked at the article would like to give you a hand with it? Twofingered Typist (talk) 13:44, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

TT, 1989 pinged me about this article. I took a quick look at the FAC page, and Sarastro1 has substantive prose concerns. A big problem (as you've noted) is the length of time between the copyedit and the FAC. The FA prose standard is "professional", and the current article may fall short. 1989, I suggest that you chalk this up to experience, request another FA-quality copyedit (emphasize that on WP:GOCE/REQ) and renominate the article as soon as the copyedit is done. Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 14:27, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Miniapolis: Chalk this up? I don't get it. -- 1989 14:38, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Chalking something up to experience" is an English-language idiom meaning "to learn from a mistake"; your mistake was waiting so long after the copyedit to submit the FAC, because there were many intervening edits. All the best, Miniapolis 17:34, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You for the fix ups

[edit]

Thanks heaps for checking the articles for me! Is there any chance you could quickly go through Alex Gilbert and The Café (Three)? Or do I have to request these? Thanks again! --TheDomain (talk) 19:54, 22 August 2017 (UTC) Also if not, I will add these to the list in the following month or so. No rush! --TheDomain (talk) 19:59, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are a legend Twofingered Typist. If you can have a look at both that would be incredible. They are not long articles :) --TheDomain (talk) 21:11, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
