The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 19:42, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category for a defunct company without the volume of spinoff content to warrant it anymore. This used to have a subcategory for radio stations owned by the company -- but it's since sold them all to Stingray Group, so that category got renamed to Category:Stingray Group radio stations and is no longer here. All that's left here anymore is the eponym and a biography of the company's chairman, making it a two-item WP:SMALLCAT with no further prospect of re-expansion. Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, only contains the eponymous article and a subcategory of recipients. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:53, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Impact of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic on the food industry. – Fayenatic London 09:43, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Only one of the entries in the category directly relates to the restaurant industry, the other is more general, the food industry. I suggest a broader scope, figuring on food, so as to include the food industry, restauration, as well as feeding people (such as food banks, school food programs, farming, etc) 65.94.170.207 (talk) 12:07, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: With just one parent category and 2 child categories (that are only tenuously related to each other) this is an unnecessary category layer. DexDor (talk) 10:09, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: keep (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 09:39, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: delete, this is a category by current status, but it may change every year, so it is not a defining characteristic. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:58, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sooner or later the current League 2 clubs will be removed from the category by an editor using Hotcat and not seeing this text. The category title should be self-explanatory which is not the case here. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:19, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose -- We have in the past spent a lot of time eliminating a "current"/"former" distinction in categories. We should discourage its reintroduction is most cases, as it means that the categories need a lot of maintenance. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:13, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete Timrollpickering (Talk) 10:25, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:C2F, a category with one eponymous article
Other than the main article, the only thing in this category is two biography articles of living people that don't even mention this club. Even though both articles should be removed, I didn't feel able to use a speedy nomination for a category I just purged. The Lake Geneva Yacht Club is in Wisconsin and both biography articles are about Olympic sailors from the Midwest so I'm assuming they either trained at, or received an award from, or were members of this club. But, even if you added that connection to those biographies, it would leave us with a 3 article cat suffering from either WP:PERFCAT, WP:OCAWARD, or WP:OCASSOC. - RevelationDirect (talk) 04:03, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That would be fine. You could also add the information to the biography articles, if sourced. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:57, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I also added the current category contents of the cat in the talk page of the main article. RevelationDirect (talk) 11:19, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Essex Schooners

[edit]
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: Merge Timrollpickering (Talk) 15:09, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCLOCATION
Essex, Massachusetts had a modest shipbuilding industry dominated by the Arthur D. Story Shipyards and there 11 articles in Category:Ships built in Essex, Massachusetts. "Essex Schooners" moves nearly all of those articles into the subcategory because they were Schooners. Since schooners are typically built side-by-side with other ship types, we have no other similar city subcategories under the Category:Schooners tree and instead use "Ships built in..." categories. The concentration of schooners here seems to have more to do with when that one shipyard was active than Essex being specifically known for schooners. There is no Essex Schooner main article and the intersection of city and ship type doesn't seem defining. (Alternatively, if kept, the category should be renamed to Category:Schooners built in Essex, Massachusetts.) - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:16, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
