- Aegukka (history · last edit · rewrite) The lyrics were written by Pak Seyŏng less than 95 years ago. In North Korea, copyright expires 50 years after the death of the author, so the lyrics are still copyrighted in both USA and North Korea. I don't know where the English translation comes from. Also WP:LINKVIO problems in the "External links" section. --Stefan2 (talk) 19:31, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Lyrics_and_poetry#National_anthems says "national anthems are generally considered to be a special case of fair use". --Ericmetro (talk) 17:15, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hm. There is no source for that claim and it doesn't say in which situations it is fair use and in which situations it isn't. I can accept that you may be able to use national anthems in a lot of situations where you can't use other copyrighted works, but the wording would really need a source. It also doesn't solve the linkvio problem as the links go to specific recordings of the song. There is the Youtube account Uriminzokkiri which uploads DPRK propaganda information (including music) and presumably does this on behalf of the DPRK government, so if we could find a copy of the song from that account, we should be able to link to that. However, I can't find anything. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:27, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- In my opinion, the situation of such a fair use is that copyrighted national anthem lyrics will be restricted to their corresponding articles only. Naenara would be a good source, which is the official portal of DPRK government: lyrics in Korean, English, and vocal recoding (webpage). --Ericmetro (talk) 18:58, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
