The result of the discussion was: delete. — JJMC89 (T·C) 02:07, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
Narrow topic, non-portal apparently started in 2008 and never finished. Apparently abandoned 3 years ago apart from formatting tweaks.
It's a static page, with only one selected article (Seventh Avenue (band)) and one selected image (File:Seventh Angel BoE-2012-2.jpg). Purgeing the page makes no changes, and Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:Christian metal shows that's because there is only one of each.
There is an "in the news" section, but it is sporadic and outdated: the 3 most recent years listed are 2016, 2013 and 2009.
This is not a portal at all. It's just a slim single-issue, single-sided leaflet. It's a waste of the time of every one of the 8 readers who are lured here every day by links from other pages.
WP:POG says that portals should be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers". This one demonstrably gets neither.
Note that at WP:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Alternative metal, portals for a bunch of other musical subgenres were deleted, including Metalcore, Extreme metal, and Alternative metal.
Christian metal does not seem to be a vital article of any level, i.e. it is not even one of the 50,000 priority topics. Given the very poor shape of many higher-priority portals and the neglect of this portal over the last year, there is no reason to expect an influx of editors to curate and maintain it. So I propose just delete it, along with all its subpages' BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:24, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Delete per the logic and result of my MfD. I don't think this one was listed on the list of portals page because I would have bundled it had I seen it. Legacypac (talk) 20:28, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- No worries, @Legacypac. Most listings seem incomplete, and cleanup is inevitably an iterative process. e.g. On Tuesday I found over 200 portals which had no {{Portal maintenance status}} tag, and therefore were not listed in Category:All portals. I tagged them, but that list is probably still incomplete. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 03:32, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- Delete; I agree. Drmies (talk) 21:23, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Merge: Instead of straight-up deleting the portal, I propose that this portal should be merged into its parent, Portal:Christian music. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 05:54, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- Delete - Just delete it. Yet another abandoned heritage portal by an inactive user. No need to merge, because we don't want to prejudice the deletion of the parent portal. Redirecting to Portal:Christian music or Portal:Heavy metal music is okay. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:56, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- Merge to Portal:Christian music. The project was created by one editor and not even that editor maintains it. The parent portal isn't going anywhere. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:45, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
- Delete - Old portal, 9 subpages, created 2008-01-19 04:56:18 by User:Jerry teps. ONE picture, ONE article, therefore nothing to merge. Portal:Christian metal. Pldx1 (talk) 16:34, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
