- Looks very much like a Google Earth screenshot or some similarly non-free source. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:02, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The EXIF data says it was done with a Canon PowerShot ... although obviously it could be a photo of the user's monitor. --B (talk) 00:14, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- I'm not certain, but because this map relies on imagery credited to "Google Earth" on its source page, and because Google imagery and map data are copyrighted ("Imagery ©2013 TerraMetrics, Map data ©2013 GIS Innovatsia, DATA+, Google", according to Google Maps, centered approximately over the area in this image) then this image's tag of public domain is unfortunately incorrect tagging. However, it could easily be reproduced using free means so its deletion would not diminish the overall quality of the article(s) in which it was used. - Claimed to be a work of the US government, but there is no evidence of this on the source website. Stefan2 (talk) 23:29, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Apparently a crop of a larger photo: http://www.tamera.org/index.php?id=315
Low resolution and no EXIF. Why did the uploader upload a thumbnail crop instead of the original image? This may suggest that it isn't own work. Stefan2 (talk) 23:32, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The uploader gives his real world identity here. From googling him, I couldn't find a way to get in touch with him, though. I would bet that all of his uploads came from the Tamera community ... whether the license is legitimate or not, who knows? --B (talk) 00:25, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Insufficient information to verify the copyright status in the United States. The source is listed as "McLachlan, Grant. Sparrow - A Chronicle of Defiance. ISBN 978-1-481-03751-8." The ISBN-13 implies that this is a recent book. However, none of the links at Special:BookSources/9781481037518 gets any hit, so I can't find any year of publication, let alone evidence that the book exists.
The photographer is identified as Kotaro Kitazawa, and the United States has a copyright term of at least life+70 years for Japanese photos by an identified photographer, unless the photo was published before 1 March 1989. The uploader hasn't presented any evidence that the photo was published before 1 March 1989.
All photos taken before 1946 are in the public domain in Japan, so this photo is in the public domain in Japan. However, English Wikipedia uses United States copyright law, which uses different rules. Stefan2 (talk) 23:48, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I haven't found anything with the 7-digit 1-4810-3751-X either. Delete — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:50, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Move it to the Commons where they accept {{PD-Japan}} then.—Ryulong (琉竜) 17:34, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Commons only accepts images which are free in both the source country and in the United States. Since there is no evidence that this image is free in the United States, it can't be moved to Commons. See Commons:COM:L#Interaction of United States copyright law and non-US copyright law.
- Is anyone able to verify whether the book listed as source actually exists? It seems to be listed as a source in several Wikipedia articles. If it turns out that the book doesn't exist, then it may mean that there are unverified claims in various articles. --Stefan2 (talk) 18:14, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The ISBN indicates that this is a self-published book issued by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform. -- Dianna (talk) 02:53, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- It looks like a photo taken using a modern camera. I don't think that the photographer has been dead for at least 100 years as claimed. Stefan2 (talk) 23:53, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
