Unused link to the special page for ExpandTemplates. Not sure what this template is going to do that's different from accessing the page through the Special pages link on the left side on Wikipedia. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 02:17, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to my sandbox area. If you're curious, it was to be expanded to allow inclusion of the text that goes in the main input box as a param, so it could be used as an example on Talk pages, and for certain kinds of tests destined for a Template testcases page which cannot use the standard templates and must use ExpandTemplates to test the use case. Anyway, moved. Mathglot (talk) 02:41, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure whether this is a joke or not. Used in one talk page, related to the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, which are a British Overseas Territory, so British English would surely do. Nigej (talk) 07:48, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not entirely a joke. The sources I used in this article were so riddled with local terminology that I needed The Antarctic Dictionary: A Complete Guide to Antarctic English to understand them. The article in question, Rail transport in South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, did seem to have started as a joke with this edit, and it came to my attention with a proposed deletion. But after looking for sources I found that there was actually an article to write here. SpinningSpark 10:24, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Used on Talk:COVID-19 pandemic but I'm not sure it's suitable. Is there any sort of policy/guideline/etc. for this concept. Nigej (talk) 08:20, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It was created in response to the surge of newcomers trying to edit COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. I'm not sure it's needed there now, but there's a possibility it'll be suitable for some other page in the future, so I don't see reason to delete it. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 08:56, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's just that it seems to be a case of "Wikipedia the Free Encyclopedia that Anyone Can Edit" but we don't want YOU editing this one. Nigej (talk) 09:16, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Keep in mind that newcomers who see the template won't be seeing its name. The actual text of the template isn't framed as "don't edit this page"; rather, it's Welcome to Wikipedia; we're glad you're here! Please feel free to join discussions on this talk page, but be aware that this article is one of the more difficult places to jump in for newcomers. You may find it easier to help out with other tasks on Wikipedia. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 19:21, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On that basis, can we also please delete the related item Wikipedia:BADBEGINNER? This is simply a redirect, so its purpose is unclear; however, it seems to have a similar role. --Sm8900 (talk) 21:59, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep. This is by no means a perfect template, but it has a particular use case. It's designed for talk pages of complex, major current events articles that have attracted a lot of newcomers who are ill-prepared to contribute to them productively. The editors above arguing that this is bitey fundamentally misunderstand the newcomer experience: the single most bitey common experience for a newcomer is the revert notification, and gently directing them elsewhere is the exact right approach if it helps avoid them getting reverted. It's no longer needed at Talk:COVID-19 pandemic, where it was used, but I do not see a compelling case above that we will never want to use it ever again elsewhere, or that it could not be adapted into something with a more helpful message. There is little downside to keeping it around, as it's not redundant to any other template, so I fall narrowly on the side of keeping it around. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 00:08, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to express my respect for your candor and your commitment to Wikipedia, in that you are voting in favor of a template that you originated, but you are being very open and forthright by voting "weak keep," rather than simply "keep." you have my respect for your consistent honesty and openness. thanks. --Sm8900 (talk) 02:45, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Little-used template that was the subject of a TfD previously: Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2017 June 12#Template:Bold dark red. Seems to fail accessibility ideas. Nigej (talk) 08:26, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. The only 3 current usages are used to convey information only through color which is against MOS:COLOR, as such all 3 usages should be removed. After that the template is left unused. Additionally, the color red is used on en.wiki to represent red links so while this might have a slightly different shade, this is still too close in color to be used with text. Gonnym (talk) 09:18, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Delete, no other "Bold ..." in Category:Text color templates so this seems non-standard and not really needed. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:34, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This template is used in external links on many Dutch villages and towns. The external link points to maps from the 1860s with big watermarks even though it is clearly in the public domain. Of course an unmarked version is for sale at the site. There is literally no shortage of maps of Dutch villages and towns on Commons which do not watermarks. The external link and template are therefore obsolete, and I don't think it's wise to give this external site publicity. KittenKlub (talk) 10:18, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Look at the transclusions, it is always in the external links section. There's also little purpose for it as a reference.KittenKlub (talk) 09:22, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tables of cases/recoveries/deaths/active cases by district in each state of India. All created by the one editor and nearly all edits by the same editor who abandoned the project in August 2021. Personally I'm not convinced that updating these is a useful exercise. If anything is every required at this level of detail (which seems unlikely to me), I don't think the content here would provide anything useful. Nigej (talk) 15:29, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This template is pointless. If used to conjugate text in English, then it is redundant to Template:Separated entries, and the creator has still failed to establish a use case for conjugating text in other languages. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:42, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment {{conj}} is a horrid name. It looks like it should be for verb conjugation, considering it is linked to a module named "linguistic"; if this is kept, both module and templates need renaming, as the module seems to only make lists -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 22:48, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • For the "the creator has still failed to establish a use case for conjugating text in other languages", you didn't read the comment at the top of the module. It was just english. There was remaining non-english code that should be removed, as the comment said. The Linguistic, I put it in the same name to avoid confusion, and the seperated entries I didn't know existed. Propose merging Template:Russo-Ukrainian War with Template:Campaignbox Russo-Ukrainian War.
I propose merging Template:Russo-Ukrainian War with Template:Campaignbox Russo-Ukrainian War. The two have the same titles but use different sidebars (Campaignbox for "Template:Campaignbox Russo-Ukrainian War" and Sidebar with collapsible lists for "Template:Russo-Ukrainian War"). I think a Campaignbox is better suited for a conflict like this. I also counted eight overlapping links between the two. lol1VNIO (TalkContrib) 17:08, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Used on over a thousand talk pages, mostly category talk pages, this is being used on the wrong spaces and takes up a majority of the space on the pages it's used on. There is no useful navigation this template provides and is very intrusive. Ironically enough, it's transcluded on its own template talk page which makes it pointless. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 20:02, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's better to navigate through category space. You're gonna have to provide evidence that this has been useful aside from the fact that you created it. And you're the only one who has been adding this template to the various category talk pages. What is there to improve? Let the categories be there without a need for a template. And you're invoking of Not Paper isn't relevant as this template does take up unnecessary space on the talk pages. It's very obtrusive. You call it a navigational template and yet it's not per Wikipedia:Navigation template. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 01:48, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiCleanerMan: That I created the navigational template is not some kind of "crime" since I am trying to help users who are not familair with this vast subjecty matter. You are the first one to complain in the more than eleven years since I created it [1]. Let me ask you a question, did you just happen to bump into this category tree and decided you hate it, or have you really been trying to get into the complicated categories of Category:Jews & Category: Judaism & Category:Jewish history that have so many overlapping and confusing sub and sub, sub categories that makes navigating them very confusing? Seems to me you are just doing a hatchet job based on WP:IJUSTDONTLIKEIT which is no excuse at all to start this deletion discussion. And yes, WP:NOTPAPER does apply. Kindly withdraw your nomination please! Thanks, IZAK (talk) 18:11, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Comment on the template. Keep your PA's to yourself. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 19:11, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Delete unless a new style is actually helpful. The current setup offers really no assistance in any way. It just lists the parent categories, which a user can see by clicking on the parent categories. I truly doubt that anything here can be useful as we don't use this can of "help" system for any other subject, and I doubt this specific topic is the most complicated subject to exist. Time-related template that automatically changes text about DST depending on the time of year. Been around 10 years and no ones using it. Probably no real requirement. Nigej (talk) 21:16, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Does not meet the WP:SIDEBAR criteria. The articles largely do not refer to each other, apart from their general connection with Murray Bookchin (whose navbox is already sufficient for that purpose). czar 23:32, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
