Will you now nominate Star Wars Kid for deletion by the same reasoning? There's more than whiff of cultural bias about deleting an article about "one of the most famous faces in China" while a huge array of Anglocentric memes are left untouched. — Matt Crypto 18:21, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, the increased community focus on this type of article probably originated from the controversies about Brian Peppers, who is a white American living in Ohio. I also strongly supported deletion of Amir Massoud Tofangsazan (see AfDs and DRV thereon) about a similar situation in England. Frankly, I would not miss Star Wars Kid in its current form either. My concern remains the impact of publicity such as is created by articles such as these upon their subjects per the "do no harm" clause of BLP. Although this article was more responsible than some others have been, I continue to believe that as a top-ten website, we have an institutional responsibility in this area that we have not altogether satisfied. If these and similar articles could be re-created in a way that seriously addressed these issues (omitting names and overly detailed identifying information about the subjects would be a start), my concerns would be reduced. - Well, I will assert that there is a clear discrepancy between Wikipedia's treatment of an Anglocentric meme and a Chinese meme, and that, in my opinion, is the result of a cultural bias of the project and its participants. I don't wish to insinuate anything about you or any other particular person, but bias exists, and it's frustrating. As to your other points, I'm all for having an awareness of the impact of what we do has on real people, and I agree with you in principle, if not in the extent of the application of that principle. But still, I do find it a little bit silly that Wikipedia cannot report on "one of the most famous faces in China" based on a uncompelling argument that this could cause any real world harm. — Matt Crypto 18:53, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

- July 2007: it's been reported in major media that this individual has been offered a leading role, along with various Hong Kong film stars, in an upcoming film produced by New Line Cinema. Badagnani 06:17, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
