Rōmaji in article titles

[edit]

Rōmaji names are usually treated correctly, as in Shinzō Abe. However, there are a number of exceptions, including most article titles of individuals listed at Category:Japanese male tennis players. Is there not consensus to use characters like ō and ū? Rovingrobert (talk) 08:22, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Rovingrobert: We use whichever version of their name is most common. Therefore, if Abe's most common romanization was "Shinzoh Abe", that's what we would use. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 08:50, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Nihonjoe: Hmm, makes reasonable sense. Why haven't I seen many Romanisations other than Hepburn in practice? Rovingrobert (talk) 02:12, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Rovingrobert: Because we use a modified Hepburn romanization by default (if no WP:MOSTCOMMON can be determined). ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 17:49, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I stubbed this article. I couldn't figure out what is the proper Japanese name (kanji, etc.). It is now at 150 words, if you can help add 100+ words we can nominate this for T:TDYK. Likely needs a commons category too. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 19:40, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

They've been added. I also added a couple of hooks. Good luck with the DYK. – Margin1522 (talk) 23:17, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Tenrikyo articles

[edit]

At the moment, I'm working on adding information and sources to Tenrikyo-related articles, particularly the three scriptures (Ofudesaki, Mikagura-uta [not created yet], Osashizu), and the important people (Miki Nakayama, Izo Iburi). I would appreciate any help with checking the content for neutrality, completeness, and accuracy, and with proper formatting of references. Thanks! Singularity 23:32, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Matsuura or Matsūra?

[edit]

Which is correct? Is the name pronounced as though spelt A or B? Rovingrobert (talk) 02:31, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Matsuura. Hepburn_romanization#U_.2B_U Alex ShihTalk 02:34, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Especially since it's not actually a long "u" but 松 (Matsu) and 浦 (ura). ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:35, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Japan Times URLs

[edit]

I've noticed that every Japan Times URL that begins "search.japantimes.co.jp" (and there are a LOT of them) is broken. If this was replaced by "www.japantimes.co.jp" the problem would be solved. Does anyone know if there is a place to make a request for this to be done automatically or semi-automatically so I don't have to go through every article manually?--Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:16, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, here. --Thibaut120094 (talk) 17:41, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the prompt response!--Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:43, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as Kim-Jong-Whazzisname is flinging stuff at us...

[edit]

Can we get the full J-Alert article translated from the Japanese to make ours more useful?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 13:01, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
