Yahaha is a UGC-based, low-coding game creation platform and game distribution platform founded in 2020. Created by ex-Unity veterans, Yahaha's goal is to build a user-generated content platform for 3D interactive experiences, where people can come together in communities to build and play games combining virtual and real-world elements.[1]

The platform has been gradually extended to support a variety of desktop and mobile platforms. Yahaha's goal is to "democratize" game development and make the development of 3D multiplayer interactive content more accessible.[2]

History and development

[edit]

Yahaha was founded by ex-Unity veterans. After Yahaha launched its alpha in April of 2022,[3] it gained a community of over 100,000 developers and 200,000[2] registered users for its platform.

YAHAHA Asset Ovi

[edit]

In February of 2023, Yahaha Studios announced the launch of their 3D asset search tool, Asset Ovi.[4] It allows users to search assets from other 3D asset marketplaces such as Sketchfab and the Unity Asset Store in one platform.[5]

Events

[edit]

Throughout the 2023 Global Game Jam, Yahaha hosted 110 people live at their site in Helsinki over the course of 48 hours, making it the country's largest hybrid-jam site. The jammers created 80 games, collaborating both on-site and through the online community, with some of the games created receiving as many as 34 thousand plays to date.[6]
