Wikiversity Approach

Thank you for using Wikiversity to share your knowledge and experience. It is clear that you have a lot to offer. However, we need to set some ground rules before you continue participation here.

1. Comments such as [1], [2], [3], [4], and [5] are not accepted. They stop now. You will not attack other editors here for any reason. Edits and edit comments must be positive and constructive.
2. You cannot copy any content from any source for any reason without including a reference to the source. Open content, such as from Wikipedia, must be referenced or it is a license violation. Content from any other site is copyrighted, and must reference the source to support fair use of the content.
3. You will not attempt to contact Wikiversity staff by email because you don't like something about the platform. We are all volunteers, and we receive enough harassment as it is without adding to our challenges. Email is reserved for private security and ethics concerns that cannot be addressed publicly without violating trust or privacy.
4. It is clear that you have a desire to teach others what you know, but it is not yet clear that you have a desire to collaborate with others and learn from their experience. Collaboration is necessary to participate at Wikiversity. You must be prepared to work well with others to edit here.
5. When you are encouraged to slow down and learn more about Wikiversity and give the system and us time to understand your interests and approach, it does not mean accelerate your pace and complain more. It means slow down and learn more.
6. You have already amassed at least a month's worth of complaints. It's time to find something positive to share, or say nothing at all for awhile.

This list is not all-inclusive. There are likely other concerns as well, but these are the obvious challenges that must be addressed before you continue editing.

I am able to understand point 1. I will leave other people’s pages alone. I was working on their pages to get edit points in the hope that then I could add content to my own pages more than 2 sentences at a time. Those who work with me on my pages will be fine as they will have mutual interests and not be jerks i am betting. I am able to understand point 2. I cannot copy content. I need to copy word squares in order to discuss them. The word squares are not copyrighted. And I would think adding quotes with the reference would be welcome but I will not add quotes here as I do only Wikipedia. Whatever content I copied from Bhakti Ananda, I was given permission to do so as I am his administrator and he wishes to have his work disseminated. May I just copy word squares so as to explain how to work with them? Without the visual people will have no idea about the patterns i am explaining. I am able to understand point 3. If you look at the volunteer sections you will see people list their emails and if you understand how the site works you know I cannot get long replies through and that is why I request email correspondence. You should remove all the emails listed on the site as there are many here, including my own. I added my email on many pages because I saw others doing the same. And I thought emails were added to facilitate communication. You do not desire any email communication. I am able to understand point 4. I apologize for the appearance that I have any desire. i do not self-identify as having any desire. I will not edit other people’s pages here. I will work on my own pages and courses. I am able to understand each point 5. Explaining problems is standard protocol in my experience but I will not do so here. When I notice something that makes Wikiversity look bad I will not point it out. I am able to understand each point 6. I will work on own pages. I have no control over what people designate as positive or negative or neutral. I label my contributions as positive but am not offended if you label them however you choose. Designate freely. How long do i need to wait for the system to let me upload 1000 words at a time? Etc: I am used to how Wikipedia operates and apologize for thinking Wikiversity operated the same say. I will work on my own courses and pages with those who assist. If you cannot see the problems with the pages I edited then I shall not edit pages here and only work on my own if that is acceptable. If I must work on editing other people’s pages then inform me that I must I must do this please and in future I will reference everything like I do on Wikipedia on other people’s pages even though others do not thoroughly provide thorough references for their narratives here in my view. Whatever the other complaints are just explain them. Again, I will not edit other people’s narratives here. I would like to create my own content and just copy uncopyrighted theophoric word squares in order to explain the patterns in them. I can locate much content on Wikiversity copied from elsewhere quite easily if you would like me to point that content out for you so it can be removed. What are your other concerns? Thank you for following up.

1. There is no page ownership. You are welcome to edit other pages. You are not welcome to criticize other contributors. Assume good faith and work to improve the resources that interest you.
2. You can copy content. But anything at Wikipedia is contributed under a CC-BY-SA license. The BY part of CC-BY-SA requires that you reference the source when copying it. Any content from a source that isn't open is assumed to be copyrighted. Copyrighted content may be copied, but only under limited circumstances, and must absolutely be referenced. In most cases, it is easier to link to copyrighted content and ask users to read it from the original source, and then expand on what they should have learned from their reading.
3. The length of your posts isn't an issue. The content of your posts has been what has resulted in the posts being blocked. Rather than learning more about what the content issues are, you attempted to bypass the process. That's not an effective approach here. Several admins here are being actively harassed off-wiki, and we are sensitive to those who might suggest an off-wiki response is appropriate.
4. Again, there is no page ownership. Even if you choose not to interact with other learning projects, that doesn't mean others won't choose to interact with you to guide your efforts, consistent with what Wikiversity is and what Wikiversity is not.
5. You are welcome to work toward improving Wikiversity, but you must consider approach. Explaining problems is standard protocol in my field as well, but there are ways to do that without offending others. Try to focus on what would make the resource better rather than just what is wrong with it. Focus constructive criticism on the content rather than the contributor.
6. You do have some control over what others perceive as positive, negative, or neutral in regard to your actions. If this isn't clear to you, this will be a challenging experience as you learn more about those differences. Again, there isn't a length filter, but a content filter. You are using words that abusive users have used in the past to harass others at Wikiversity.

For your account to be unblocked, you must agree to go back and add references or delete any content that was copied from another source. If you would like to also point out other content that has been copied without attribution, that would be greatly appreciated. You can use the {{Copyrighted}} tag, or for open content, you can add proper attribution.

If you just want to work on your own, this isn't the right place for you. Create a blog or create your own website. Now that I see how Wikiversity operates, I just plan to work in my own courses and pages. and i was editing other pages to be helpful and to increase my rank so i can add content on my pages more than 2 sentences at a time. Obviously that approach didn’t work. 1,2,3,4,5,6 yea yea yea yea yea yea. I expected Wikiversity to work like every other Wiki site. Can i just work on my own courses and pages now. I will leave other people pages alone. and i will just have a Theophoric Square course for reading and creating the squares and a page for my siksha guru who told me to make him one. Whoever assists with those will be welcome to collaborate. Praxidicae’s Hatespeech

Warning to all that Praxidicae posting inappropriate things on personal Wikiveristy pages. I deleted slanderous accusations which Praxidicae made against me on my page here. Wiki sites should be safe spaces and those who go onto other members’ personal pages and publicly post vicious attacks should be exposed and named. Thus I am naming Praxidicae here. Regarding Wikipedia:User talk:DErnestWachter, I have changed the current block on your account to indefinite. Comments from Praxidicae may or may not be relevant, but attempts to use Wikipedia and Wikiversity as a platform for hate speech are extremely relevant and requires additional explanation. I deleted Praxidicae’s comment on my page. Admin should be able to retrieve it. Praxidice was saying that I post nonsense and hating on me on my page. Thus I am naming Praxidicae as someone who goes into other people’s affairs and spouts hatred. I posted this not on Praxidicae’s page but on my own page. This is my page and Praxidicae is not an admin thus has no right to come onto my page and make slanderous accusations against me. Praxidicae can write anything on Praxidicae’s own page but not on mine. Only Admin gets to slander me on my own page and I will name anyone who is not admin who comes into my personal Wiki space to spout hate against me. Again I deleted the hatespeech and I am the one who was victimized by the hatespeech.

You are correct. You control the content on your user page(s), assuming that content doesn't otherwise violate policy or procedure. There is no problem with you removing Praxidicae's post.

You are incorrect in saying an admin may make slanderous accusations against you. We don't allow that here, either. But, there is a difference between slanderous (false) statements and accusatory statements supported by apparent facts.

That said, can you help us understand the edits that led to your account being blocked on Wikipedia?
