Etymology

Borrowed from Classical Persian بادِشاه (bādšāh, bādišāh), from پادشاه (pādšāh, pādišāh); the voicing of initial p to b occurred possibly to avoid resemblance to Hindustani پاد / पाद (pād, “fart”) (compare পাদ (pad)). Cognate with Maithili बादसाह (bādᵊsāh), Hindustani بَادْشَاہ (bādśāh) / बादशाह (bādśāh), Punjabi ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ (bādśāh) / بادْشاہ (bādśāh), Sindhi بادشاهُ / बादशाहु (bādśāhu), Gujarati બાદશાહ (bādśāh), Marathi बादशहा (bādaśhā), Telugu పాదుషా (pāduṣā).

   মোগল বাদশাহদের অধঃপতন হওয়ার পর তাদের অধীনে থাকা নবাবেরা ও পরিপন্থীরা তাদের সাবেক সাম্রাজ্যের ওপর ক্ষমতা বিস্তার করলো।

   mōgol badśahder odhoḥpoton hōẇar por tader odhine thaka nobabera o poriponthira tader śabek śamrajjer ōpor khomota bistar korlō.

   After the decline of the Mughal badshahs, deputies subordinate to them and their opponents came to establish power over their former empire.
