Etymology

Cognate with Ugaritic ๐Ž—๐Ž‚๐ŽŽ (rgm, โ€œtaleโ€). Perhaps also Arabic ุฑูŽุฌู’ู… (rajm, โ€œ(stone) throwing; insults hurlingโ€) and Biblical Hebrew ืจึดื’ึฐืžึธื” (riแธกmษ”ฬ, hapax legomenon of uncertain meaning, interpreted by some scholars as meaning "shouting crowd"). Compare also Mishnaic Hebrew ืจึถื’ึถืŸ (rษ›ฬแธกษ›n, โ€œmurmuring, complaintโ€).
